Lovers of truck farming and gardening, most likely, at least once had to deal with such an annoying and fast-growing weed as woodlice (or medium starlet). This weed grows from May to early autumn. If you do not take measures to eliminate it, then in just a few days your site will be covered with a canvas of woodlice.

What can you do to prevent this plant from spreading in your garden?
Traditional methods
- Dig up the ground and remove the roots of the weed. After that, pour crushed chalk or lime into the soil. Woodlice does not tolerate a slightly acidic environment.
- Weed the beds regularly. Then, in order to prevent the rapid growth of the weed, you can sprinkle the ground with sawdust, straw, pine needles.
- Plots of land on which vegetables are not planted can be treated with a strong saline solution (table salt). Or sprinkle with mineral halite (1.5 kg per 1 sq. m)
- Make a special solution: acetic acid 9% (200 ml), citric acid (1 sachet), rubbing alcohol (30 ml), dishwashing detergent (2 tsp. l.) and two glasses of water. Water with this solution only land free from plantings!
Methods using chemicals
Today on the market of goods there are a large number of weed control products that do not harm the growth of cultivated plants. Consider three popular drugs for fighting woodlice:
- Roundup: is a liquid that must be diluted in a volume of 60 ml with 10 liters of water. It should be borne in mind that under the scorching sun, the properties of the herbicide are lost, therefore, it should be sprayed before sunrise or after sunset.
- "Hurricane-Forte": no less potent weed killer. Processing is carried out once a season. Add 15-20 ml of a hurricane to 3 liters of water.
- "Tornado": the solution is prepared just before processing. 25 ml of herbicide is mixed in 3 liters of water. The first results can be seen one week after spraying.
It should be noted that the destruction of woodlice is a laborious process and requires a lot of patience from gardeners. Which of the methods to choose as the main one - folk or chemicals - is up to you. The main thing to remember is that an integrated approach and regularity are important tenets in the fight against this unwanted weed.
