The Soviet automobile industry was very diverse and large-scale, serving a wide variety of areas of activity. But the generations born after the collapse of the USSR will often be able to name only the Zhiguli or the Volga from the cars of that time. And all because many models that were previously popular are simply not left on the roads today. Here are 4 Soviet cars that were once at every step, but today you will not find them with fire in the afternoon.

The famous Soviet "heel", as the IZH-2715 was called, was produced for a very decent period - almost three decades - from 1972 to 2001. In fact, in Soviet reality, he was a light delivery van that could be seen in almost every yard. They have not lost their relevance in the nineties - then they were actively used by the owners of stalls. But today "heels" have become a rarity, so much so that modern youth sometimes have not seen this once popular car even once.

2. LuAZ-969 "Volyn"

In fairness, it should be noted that many motorists did not consider Volyn as a fully completed car concept: in fact, the complete lack of design and a comfortable interior made the LuAZ-969 rather crudely made model. Here is just one of its advantages crossed out any inconvenience: this is its highest cross-country ability.

It would seem that it was not the most powerful SUV, but it coped perfectly with complete off-road conditions. This is what made Volyn so popular. However, with the advent of new, including foreign models of similar functionality, and even much more comfortable, the Soviet car first appeared on the periphery, and then completely ceased to appear on roads.

3. RAF-2203 "Latvia"

Perhaps it would be quite fair to call the famous minibus of the Baltic production a cult Soviet car. The legendary "Rafik" was not only popular - it could be found in every corner of the Soviet Union and the entire socialist bloc, and in considerable quantities. The use of RAF-2203 "Latvia" was also very diverse: from passenger minibuses and ambulances to cash-in-transit vehicles and even flatbed trucks.

In total, there are over a dozen different modifications of this truly versatile vehicle. However, unfortunately, the collapse of the USSR put an end to the production of "Rafiks". Today, a model that was at every step a couple of decades ago is a real rarity.

The ErAZ-762 model can be considered a vivid example of a car, which, despite the huge amount of criticism, was still produced in considerable quantities and was used almost everywhere. And there was something to criticize: from not the most successful assembly, moreover, from parts of frankly poor quality, to a completely uncomfortable view from the driver's seat. Even the seats in the cabin would not be called comfortable.

Despite the attempts of the designers to change the situation, it did not work out very well. At the same time, the production volumes of the ErAZ-762 did not decrease, and there was still someone to drive it: almost every grocery store in the Soviet Union replenished its stocks of goods with the help of these machines. And if even a quarter of a century ago they were at every step, today the situation has changed dramatically: at the beginning of the new century The Yerevan plant, where YerAZ-762 was produced, was declared bankrupt, so seeing this car on the road now is a big rarity.
