Paints have the properties of conventional formulations, and also destroy bacteria and microbes on the substrate. Therefore, they are used in schools, kindergartens, apartments, shopping centers, medical institutions, etc.

A large number of paints are used to paint walls inside rooms, since they are not too resistant to an unfavorable atmosphere.

Also produced are paints intended for application to facades.

Compositions and properties of antimicrobial paints

Some chemicals eliminate microorganisms, but are completely harmless to humans. These are silver nanoparticles.

Due to their composition, paints retain the ability to eliminate bacteria even when water is added. They can protect people's health from bacteria and viruses for a long time.

The inclusion of silver in nanoparticles makes it more expensive. But you can buy cheaper antimicrobial paint. Added to it: titanium dioxide; biocide; functional additives and fillers. It is based on acrylic polymer and water. Also, manufacturers often include light-stable pigments in such mixtures.

Grip with different bases

Without excellent adhesion to the substrate, the paint will flake off, the wall will not be decorative, and the film will not eliminate germs. The formulations below have excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces.

Compositions with silver nanoparticles

1. Silver Nano.

It is a bacteria-killing compound. It is produced by the Stena enterprise located in Russia. The mixture contains silver nanoparticles. During research in the laboratory, it was found that the painted base reduces the life of bacteria and viruses to several hours. This applies to most of the known viruses and bacteria.

The paint was awarded 5 points by Roskontrol. When tested for rinsing, the mixture does not lose its properties of eliminating bacteria and microbes. The paint is absolutely safe. The product has been awarded the "Quality Mark".

2. Decorus Ag Bionika.

It is created by OOO NPO Factory of Paints. It is a water-dispersive composition containing silver nanoparticles.

Advantages:

  • can be applied to any base;
  • has excellent covering ability;
  • serves for a long time;
  • repels dirt, soot, carbon deposits;
  • eliminates bacteria.

Titanium Dioxide Formulations

1. Front paint "Sputnik".

Sputnik paint is applied to the facade. It is created by the Izhsintez enterprise. The composition destroys bacteria, but is safe for people and the environment.

2. Tikkurila Luja 20.

It is used for application on concrete, putty, brick, cardboard, wood, gypsum, chipboard and fibreboard inside rooms. Can be used to paint ceilings and walls in rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms. It can also be used in rooms with increased wear requirements. Does not wash off after exposure to disinfectants used in healthcare facilities. Can withstand 20,000 brush strokes.

The composition can be safely applied to alkyd paint.

The product was created in Finland by Tikkurila. It can retain its antibacterial properties for a very long time, is resistant, does not have a nasty smell, and serves for a long time. But the material can cause allergies, so only 4.4 points were assigned to it, not 5.

3. Antiseptic paint "Tent-B". It is produced by Avangard-TAKT LLC.

Advantages:

  • destroys germs and viruses;
  • adheres perfectly to the base.

Flaws:

  • pungent and disgusting smell;
  • has poor hiding power.

Smell

If we compare the listed compositions, then Silver Nano does not have a nasty smell, it is hypoallergenic. After painting the surface with Decorus, there is also no pungent odor, but allergies may appear, because of this it is advised to apply it wearing gloves. Tikkurila also does not emit an unpleasant odor, but when using it, you should wear a respirator, and the room should also be well ventilated.

But the compositions "Sputnik" and "Tent-V" have a pungent smell. And also "Tent-V" does not meet the sanitary and epidemiological requirements, it can cause allergies. When applying, you need to wear a respirator, ventilate the room well.
