What is wonderful about this dish is that the necessary food set can be found in any kitchen. So, the products are based on 4 servings:

  1. Potatoes - 8 pcs. It must be large. If there should be more portions, respectively, we increase the number of tubers.
  2. Cheese - about 200 grams. Choose varieties that are high in fat, at least 50. Then it will melt perfectly, and you will end up with a golden brown crust.
  3. Bulb onions - 3 pcs. Thanks to the onion, the potatoes will be juicy and aromatic.
  4. Garlic - 5-6 teeth. It will give the characteristic aroma and taste. If you want a spicier dish, use more garlic.

  7. Seasonings: black pepper, turmeric, paprika - half a teaspoon.
  8. You can add a couple tablespoons of grain mustard to the marinade for a very rich taste.

Cooking method

Let's start with the preparation of the potatoes: wash them thoroughly, peel them, cut out the eyes (if any). Next, cut our vegetable into slices up to 1 centimeter thick. Do not cut thicker, because it simply will not bake and may be half-baked. If the potatoes are young, then you don't even need to peel them, it will be enough to rinse them well. Next, in a sieve or colander, rinse the slices under running water to remove excess starch. By the way, this will make the dish less high in calories.

Cut the onion into half rings or rings, as you like. The thickness of the ring should not exceed 0.5 centimeters. If you have very hot onions, just pour boiling water over it.

The next step is to prepare the marinade for the potatoes. In a separate container, combine mayonnaise, available spices, mustard and mix everything thoroughly until smooth. Add garlic squeezed out by a press and salt there. Mix well again. Add the finished marinade to the potatoes, mix so that all the potato slices are covered and soaked.

The oven should be warmed up to 200 degrees. Grease a baking sheet with oil and put half of our potatoes in the marinade. Spread the onion evenly on top and cover with the remaining potato mixture. Grate the cheese on the largest grater and sprinkle on the dish.

Next, cover the baking sheet with foil and send it to the oven for an hour. A few minutes before the end of cooking, you need to remove the foil and put the baking sheet back in oven until final cooking - until a ruddy cheese appears on the surface of the dish crust.
