In many areas, tomatoes ripen in July, and summer residents think that now all the care work stops and all that remains is to harvest. But this is not so, because it will not be so easy to prolong the rapid fruiting.

Shaping tomatoes
Of course, the main formation of the bushes should take place in the last spring month and early summer, when the owner himself decides how many stems to leave on the bush. But plants accumulate foliage until fall, especially if the soil contains enough nitrogen. This means that we should not forget about the regular elimination of excess foliage and stepsons.
Of course, the bush will not be able to develop well if it remains completely "bald". The amount of greens just needs to be reduced so that all the power of the culture goes to the ripening of vegetables. In this regard, cut off young branches, leaving insignificant (no more than 1.5 cm) hemp, yellowish leaves located below, and also remove massive foliage at the base of the tomato brush. Remember that late blight is formed mainly on unventilated plantings.
Carrying out feeding tomatoes
In early July, the third feeding of tomatoes is performed. In addition to organic matter, the necessary elements must be added to the nutritional tincture.
For the July feeding, it is good to use the following composition, for the preparation of which you need to take: superphosphate (20 g), mullein (1 l), potassium sulfate (20 g), urea (10 g), lime (10 g), copper sulfate (2 g), all substances are diluted in a 10-liter bucket water. Watering is carried out in such a volume: tall and liana-shaped shrubs require up to 2 liters of solution, undersized and medium-sized plants - 1-1.5 liters per bush.
Perform proper watering and loosening of the soil
It will be ideal if you install drip irrigation for tomatoes, which ensures continuous and even irrigation of the root system, thereby not watering vegetables and leaves. If this is not possible, you can water it regularly at the root. An adult plant with mature fruits should be watered 1-2 times every seven days, 4-5 liters of liquid each.
Water the mulched beds less often, and before watering, constantly check the condition of the soil under the mulch.
Loosen the ground under bushes regularly. Perform the procedure carefully so as not to damage the root system, do not go deeper than 7-10 cm.
Treat plants against diseases and parasites
In July, the culture needs preventive treatments. However, numerous chemicals are not recommended during fruiting.
Better use milk whey. To do this, prepare an infusion consisting of serum in an amount of 1 L and liquid (3 L), spray the leaves, and after about 10 days, repeat the treatment.
Do not forget to inspect the plants (from July 15-20) in order to check for late blight. Damaged leaves must be removed, and the bushes themselves must be treated with preparations containing copper, these include:
- Bordeaux liquid (1%);
- Ordan;
- "Indigo";
- Abiga Peak.
First, remove the almost ripe tomatoes, you can leave on the branches those that take more than 7-10 days to ripen.
Hilling tomato bushes
In order for the bushes to grow strong, to be able to withstand numerous tomatoes and, moreover, to give the fruits the required nutrition for the ripening period, the plants must be spud. It will be enough if, during loosening, you rake the soil about 15-20 cm high onto the stems, and as the soil subsides, you need to repeat this manipulation.
Harvest ripe tomatoes as they ripen
Remove ripe tomatoes regularly, as they can take away the strength from the plant and interfere with the ripening of less hurried brethren.
If it is not possible to visit the site often, then pluck the almost ripe tomatoes in advance and put them for ripening.
Pollinate the plants yourself as needed.
As soon as the tomatoes have faded, the remaining flowers can be ignored by the insects, and they will remain non-pollinated. Then gardeners start artificial pollination or try to attract pollinating insects to their site.
To do this, you need to take a fan or a brush and go to the greenhouse. This procedure should be carried out every other day, in the morning. Blow the bush gently, gently shake the stem and use a brush to transfer pollen from flower to flower. If the tomatoes are pollinated, their petals will become curved.
You can lure insects to the site with the help of honey plants, growing them near tomatoes or placing containers with them in the aisles for the required period.
If you are growing a lot of plants, you can use cooked sugar syrup consisting of sugar (1-2 tbsp. l.) and liquid in the amount of 1 liter. Spray peduncles with this composition.
