I welcome everyone on our channel for those who have decided to independently master welding and metal locksmithing. Our blog for self-taught!
I will show you an interesting homemade product that I cooked a couple of years ago. She helps me when cutting profile and round pipes with a grinder. Well, how it helps, just cut the pipes with her a little faster and more comfortably.
There is such a method in welding, it is called boat welding. This is when you need to weld parts at a right angle or slightly more or less than a right angle.
In this case, the already tacked parts can be placed in such a way that they will form the shape of a boat, everything is as in the photo above. And in such a way it will be much easier to weld even a beginner.
Once, while welding parts in this way, I got the idea to whip up a simple home-made product. This is a home-made product in the shape of a boat, but it is needed for convenient and safe cutting of a profile or round pipe with a grinder. See what happened and how this boat came in handy in the work.
We will weld a piece of a corner to two pieces of a shaped pipe. But we will weld it with the top, in this position the corner will have the shape of a boat. This simple shape will act as a limiter when cutting different materials with a grinder. See how it looks.
A round pipe, which needs to be cut off or cut to size, for example, is placed in this boat. Now the pipe is fixed by the angle shelves, it will not be able to roll when cutting. We additionally press the pipe with our hand and safely and boldly work with the grinder.
And if you need to cut a profile pipe, then here the boat will generally be an indispensable assistant. The profile pipe is laid with the edges up. This position of the profile pipe is very convenient for cutting with a grinder.
With one cut of the disc, we simultaneously saw 2 sides of the professional pipe. Plus, such a cut will be much faster than a regular cut, as everyone does - turn the pipe 4 times and saw 4 times along the markings.
Here we make markings on 2 sides and with one cut we completely saw through the entire professional pipe, if the diameter of the disc allows. It's just that cutting the pipe in this position is quite accurate, starting to go deeper from the top, the disk goes along 2 lines exactly at right angles to the pipe.
So the design of such a boat is simple, the material needs 3 trimming, but the benefits will be tangible. Cutting round and shaped pipes will become more convenient, safer and faster.
