Today, the Soviet era seems to be something distant and finally gone into history. As is often the case with civilizations that have sunk into oblivion, they leave behind a huge number of artifacts. True, in the case of the USSR, most of the material heritage ended up not in the ground in the archaeological layers, but in dusty closets. If you show individual items to the younger generation, then it will hardly be able to immediately guess why such a mysterious and strange contraption was needed.

When it comes to grilling meat, most compatriots immediately think of a formulaic feast in the backyard of a classic American house in the suburbs. In fact, it was cooked on the grill in the USSR as well. Many compatriots in the 1970s-1980s had such an electric grill at their disposal.

2. Trainer "Grace"

And this is not a plate, not a tray, or even a home scale, but an exercise machine for physical education. This device is a pancake, on which one should stand or sit, and then perform a variety of body movements in order to burn excess calories. Exercising the Grace is one of the strangest things in the world. Nevertheless, the result of such exercises with regular exercise commands respect.

3. Hand warmer

In some parts of the Soviet Union it could be very cold. So cold that no gloves and mittens would have saved. Especially for people living in such regions (as well as for the most pampered individuals of temperate latitudes), such chemical hand warmers were made. A special charcoal stick smoldered inside the metal case. The device, carried in a pocket, made it possible to quickly warm the palms and fingers. One stick was enough for at least 7 hours.

4. Apple cutter

This is not a bicycle handlebar or a vacuum cleaner filter cover. In fact, this is a fairly trivial apple cutter that allows you to dismember a delicious fruit into more or less equal slices. It was enough to put the device on the apple and press it hard. Most importantly, the apple cutter also made it possible to cut a core with seeds.

5. Razor touchstone

Some men still use a straight razor today. In the Soviet Union, such machines for a long time (as well as in the rest of the world) were even more widespread. Of course, like any sharp object, the razor should be sharpened periodically. Used for this are such touching stones.

The frankly suspicious and slightly creepy device is actually a conventional hand-operated mixer. They were used even in the post-war period, when the production of modern household electrical appliances was not yet at an acceptable level in the USSR.

7. Breadbox

It looks creepy, but in fact, this box is perhaps the most useful thing in any kitchen, namely, a bread bin. By the way, bread was stored in them much better than in most modern containers. This is because in Soviet bread bins they still made wall-separators for storing different varieties of flour products.
