When I was younger, I had little interest in what was happening around me. But years passed, I gained experience, acquired building skills and began to look closely at the houses that come across my way. I began to be interested in the foundation, roofing, exterior decoration and so on.
As a rule, private houses are hidden behind fences.
It is on the fence that one can form the first impression of the owners of the house, assume what kind of wealth they have.
- If the fence is made of a chain-link mesh, most likely, ordinary summer residents periodically visit the site.
- When a house is thoroughly fenced, it is likely to be lived in all year round.
And so I noticed that many people build powerful fences on a tape of concrete, considering this option the most reliable and durable.
Not a very logical decision, given the fact that most of the houses today are built on pile-screw foundations. Why does a fence need a concrete base?
Have you ever watched such concrete tapes crack? Yes to me, and confirmation of this in the photo.
You might think that the fence was built by inexperienced builders, or the concrete was used of poor quality. In fact, the reason lies much deeper - in the very design of the fence.
Foundation and in Africa - foundation
- 1. When it comes to the foundation of a house, many, without hesitation, say that it should be below the depth of soil freezing.
For some reason, when building fences, this moment is omitted. In rare cases, the pillars are concreted a little deeper, but this is not done with tape.
- 2. We must not forget about the water saturation of the soil. When the groundwater on the site rises to high levels, even the most reliable and good foundation can not withstand.
Frost heaving plays an important role, which negatively affects the entire structure of the fence. In this case, even deep burying of the base will not help, since the soil will still press on the concrete from the sides.
Only a well-made drainage system will help to save yourself from negative consequences.
- 3. Finally, let's remember the weathering
When building houses, the foundations are, if possible, protected from capillary suction of water. For fences, this is again forgotten. It turns out that the concrete base remains in the open air.
High-quality concrete will last a little longer, but this is a rare case.
It turns out that the construction of a fence should be approached with no less responsibility than the construction of a house.
Naturally, many underestimate this fact and do not want to bother with the fence. They try to do everything faster and more economically.
But over time, this approach turns into dire consequences. For example, the fence may look askew, as in the photo.
Over the years of work as a builder, I was firmly convinced that there are no trifles in this matter. Every detail is important and needed. Having understood this, I no longer make gross mistakes!
