When it comes to the Soviet Union, almost no one talks about the pre-war times, because, in the opinion of most citizens, there was only dirt, darkness, darkness, war and repression. Most people associate everything “positive” in one way or another with the era of stagnation, the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s. And it was from this era that a huge number of habits migrated to us, many of which, through their parents, were entrenched, including in the minds of “millennials”.

1. Carpets, they are everywhere, Ivan!

Is there anything weirder than wanting to hang the rug on the wall? In the Soviet years, this design solution was progressive! The carpets somehow muffled the sounds coming from the neighbors through the thin walls. And it was warmer with carpets. However, those times are far behind. Since the middle of the 20th century, the carpet on the wall is a very bad tone. Our compatriots are hopelessly behind in this respect. It should be remembered that modern wallpapers look good on their own. And on the wall it is better to hang a shelf for books.

2. Sideboard with crystal

Soviet citizens were very fond of gathering for the holidays, and therefore in almost every house there was always a glazed sideboard with dishes. Today, for many people, such furniture remains in the house "by inertia". But those "companionable" times have long been left behind. Atomization of society and urbanization are doing their job, and therefore there is no longer any need to keep the "crystal" in the hall or living room.

3. Self repair

My wife asked me to fix the toilet for a whole week: I put up a sign "The toilet is being renovated" and left with friends to play football. This is roughly how it looks in modern society. Of course, it's good when a person can and knows how to fix some things, clean the sewer on their own and remove kittens from trees. However, technologies are only becoming more complicated, and therefore it is better to entrust any repairs to qualified specialists.

4. Clothes for growth

Surely everyone in his childhood wore things for older brothers or sisters, and also wore things that are "a little" larger, because they were taken for growth. For example, I was carrying one sweater that I bought as a child, almost 15 years old! And it’s unnecessary to think that I didn’t grow up, my parents just overdid it with the selection of wardrobe. In any case, the purchase of clothing for growth is a frankly strange tradition, even by Soviet standards. Clothes should fit well and not get in the way.

A sin that is actually inherent not only to the citizens of the former USSR. Scammers are found in absolutely all countries. However, unwanted items in your home should be disposed of regularly to maintain order and avoid collecting dust. It is not necessary to throw it away. It is fashionable to give, donate, sell.
