If you are a beginner self-taught in welding or locksmith, or just love and know how to work with metal, then our channel is definitely for you!

I will show you an interesting way to cut a round pipe with a grinder. This is an old piece of metalwork, the pipe can be sawed off without marking, by eye and fairly straight.

First, take a look at how to make a regular accurate marking for cutting a round pipe at 90 degrees.

Take a flexible strip of metal or a piece of paper. We completely wrap the circumference of the pipe and mark it with a pencil or marker along the end of the tape or paper. That's all, now we take the tool and carefully trace along this markup.

It turns out pretty accurate. But if you don't do this markup, is it possible to cut it off exactly? At first glance, it seems that this cannot be done simply by hand, it will still be crooked. But no, there is one trick, look.

Here we have a piece of galvanized pipe with an outer diameter of 48 mm. We will trim this pipe. As I said, we will not do any markup, why do we need these difficulties! And in a simple way, let's cut it off by eye.

When we bring a grinder with a rotating disc and touch the pipe with it, we get the following picture.

A sheaf of sparks will immediately go from under the disk. And with this flow of sparks, we will correct the grinder, or rather the disc relative to the pipe so that it is perpendicular. That is, I sawed at right angles to the pipe.

The sheaf of sparks will not go exactly in a thin line; it will change its thickness depending on the position of the disc's penetration into the metal. But with this stream of sparks, we can always visually determine the center, the middle.

This stream of sparks, its middle, we need to start up at right angles to the pipe. Yes, this cannot be done with an accuracy of a degree, but anyway, if you are careful and accurate, it is not difficult to maintain this approximate right angle.

We make a cut in the pipe, we go a little deeper, then we twist the pipe a little towards ourselves. And from this cut on the pipe, we begin to move further with a disc. We also orient ourselves so that the flow of the spark is at a right angle. And so in a circle, we must cut off accurately enough. Check out these photos of the cut in a circle.

We got a fairly even cut all around the circle, see.

Everything turned out quite accurately. You can see everything in the photo. Take a square and check the whole circle. There are slight deviations, but they are no more than 1-1.5 mm. This error is obtained even with markings.

The method is simple, but quite working and useful. This is of course interesting and unexpected for beginners, I want to see it in video format, how everything happened, and especially the cutting itself with a grinder. This video is on the channel, uploaded a week ago. Go to the channel itself and watch.
