Cucumbers turn yellow due to impaired photosynthesis. Plants die with severe yellowing. This leads to a deficiency of nutrients in the soil, sudden temperature changes, excessive watering or drought, various diseases and a lack of ultraviolet radiation. Sunburn can occur if water is not properly watered. This happens when the crop is watered at the peak of the heat.
Yellowing of cucumbers due to disease
Fungal lesions can destroy a vegetable plantation in just 1-2 weeks. The fungus appears as spots on the leaves.
Cucumbers can suffer from:
- fusarium,
- powdery mildew,
- bacteriosis,
- peronosporosis.
Also, the cucumber is susceptible to attack by aphids, whiteflies and spider mites.
Yellowing of ovaries and leaves
Pathology must be eliminated immediately, otherwise the harvest can not be expected. The reason for yellowing may be a lack of ultraviolet radiation, potassium or nitrogen, as well as hypothermia of the plant.
To solve the problem, it is recommended to feed young cucumber bushes with complex fertilizer. Plants can also be covered with a cloth overnight and on cooler days.
Cucumbers at the edges of the leaves can darken due to deficiencies in nutrients such as potassium. When a border appears on the bushes of a greenish-yellow color, you need to apply a mineral complex fertilizer or use an infusion of wood ash.
Yellow spots on the leaves
This pathology shows that cucumbers have started late blight or another fungal disease. When a pest appears that bites through the leaf tissue, a brownish-yellow spot is formed. Spotting can also indicate a deficiency in potassium and magnesium.
If hiding the cucumbers for the night did not help, it is worth solving the main problem. Chemicals will help to cope with pests and remove micronutrient deficiencies.
Processing recipes
300 g of sifted dry ash is poured into a 10-liter bucket of water, 200 g of dry mullein are added. All this is infused for a day. Next, you need to water the bushes by 1 liter. After 7 days, you can repeat the procedure.
A 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid fights the fungus. When aphids appear, dilute 3 ml of Nitroammofosk with 10 liters of water. Colloidal sulfur copes well with spider mites. To prepare the solution, you need to dilute 80 g of sulfur in a 10-liter bucket and process the bushes every 4-5 days.
Leaves affected by fungal disease can be washed with soapy water. Laundry soap without impurities is used. After washing, dark spots are sprinkled with sifted ash. This creates an alkaline environment that is detrimental to the fungus. Soap treatment and dusting are performed every 4 days.
You can also treat the fungus with a mild baking soda solution. You need to take a large spoonful of soda, dilute it in a bucket of water (5 l) and spray the leaves with a spray bottle.
