Greetings, dear friends!
4 months ago I purchased 180 sq.m. paving slabs, of which 90 sq.m. went to the parking area, drive into the courtyard and garden paths, 30 sq.m. under the gazebo, and the remaining meters to the blind area around the house and the area in front of the porch - in front of the entrance into the house.
In fact, concrete tiles are not a cheap pleasure, for everything, together with the curb stone, I paid 220,000 rubles. And in order to install the tiles, I needed 40 tons of crushed stone screening and 2 tons of cement, the cost of which amounted to about 50,000 rubles more. It’s good that the whole yard did it himself, otherwise I would have to pay about 200 thousand rubles for this.
Being in the suburbs of St. Petersburg, near a private house, I saw a magnificent variant of organizing a courtyard territory, and then I saw it in another of the parks.
After talking with the owner of the house, I found out that this technology was taken from Europe and is a very cool and convenient option for improving the territory without using paving slabs. And now, I really regret not having seen this solution before.
This method of organizing the territory is called a modular mesh covering, but in our country it is promoted as a lawn lattice, so our people do not look in its direction. But, this is not really a lawn grating, since its main purpose is not for lawns.
Many countries are concerned with the recycling of plastic and these modules are just a product of its recycling. In Europe, similar technologies are used for hard pavement in the construction of park areas, playgrounds and other areas for public events, since they are very wear-resistant and environmentally friendly. It is a hard surface that is in no way inferior to tiles, concrete or asphalt.
Such a coating can withstand transport weighing 30 tons. Provides good strength and shear stability of the filler - nothing stretches behind the legs, no traces remain.
The modules are made of high density plastic that has not deteriorated for over 20 years. The sizes of the modules can be different, but do not exceed 0.5 sq. M.
Installation is as follows:
- Geotextiles are laid on the ground.
- It is poured at the level with crushed stone screenings or sand with a layer thickness of 5-7 cm. If an entry is made, then the filling is done with crushed stone fr. 5-20 and 10-15 cm thick.
- Further, a carpet of modules is assembled.
- After that, it is filled with any bulk material: coarse sand, crushed stone, pebbles.
In reality, the installation of such a coating can be done by yourself, which is much easier than laying paving slabs.
A great advantage is that such a coating easily filters water and allows you to implement the most complex shapes, but there are also disadvantages: if the curb is not high, then the aggregate in the form of sand, gravel or pebbles easily gets into black soil. And secondly, grass grows easily in the filler, so you will have to process ...
In my opinion, this coating is much better suited for garden paths than paving slabs. And for many, it may be just right for the yard ...
Simple installation without complicated equipment and a service life of 20+ years. The modules are firmly connected to each other and create a single coating with an even load distribution.
The cost depends on the height of the product and the size of the module, on average the price is per 1 sq. M. ranges from 500 to 800 rubles. Even if you have to spend money on beautiful sea pebbles, it will still come out cheaper.
I hope this information is useful to you. And that's all, thanks for your attention!
