6 small and humble but formidable submachine guns of our time

For a long time, the pistol remained the ultimate weapon in matters of concealed carry. However, the advent of assault rifles and submachine guns required a multiple increase in the firepower of compact weapons. First of all, all kinds of security services and state power departments were interested in this. As a result, the second half of the 20th century saw a real boom in compact submachine guns. And even if their modest appearance does not allow themselves to be deceived, they are all quite formidable weapons.

A compact American-made submachine gun weighing 2.84 kg chambered for 9x19 mm or .45 ACP cartridges. A very simple and cheap submachine gun. Rate of fire - 1,100 rounds per minute. It was designed by Gordon Ingram in 1970. Interestingly, the first sample (prototype) of this weapon was confiscated from the construction by the police back in 1965. In order to release his brainchild, Ingram had to get a job in 1969 at Sionics Ltd. The submachine gun was so popular that in 1974 the US State Department banned its export. In America itself, the MAC-10 is used to this day.

A truly legendary submachine gun. Developed by Israel Military Industries back in 1954. At the same time, "Uzi" was put into service. It is curious that Israel, being an ally of the United States during the Cold War, also managed to sell these submachine guns to the USSR, albeit in very small quantities. Over the past 60 years, it is easier to list in which conflicts these weapons have not appeared. The designer of the PP was a German Jew, Uziel Gal, who left the country in 1933 after the Nazis seized power.

Depending on the modification "Uzi" weighs from 2.5 to 3.5 kg. The rate of fire from the model ranges from 600 to 1250 rounds per minute. As ammunition, cartridges 9x19 mm are used.
