How to remake a screwdriver for a voltage of 220 volts

Is the screwdriver battery "ordered to live a long time" again? Tired of spending hours recharging? What a pity that you can't just take and connect the most useful tool to the network. Alas, most modern models are completely devoid of this function. However, with the proper desire and the availability of the necessary materials, each owner can carry out an artisanal conversion of a screwdriver for work with a voltage of 220 volts.

What you need: PC power supply, screws and nuts M3, capacitor 16V 10000 uF, two-core stranded wire 4 sq. mm

The power supply unit from a personal computer can be safely taken in a state of "former use". The main thing is that it works in principle. It is better to buy new wires and capacitors. Everything else, including the tool for work, will not be difficult to get. As soon as the materials are at hand, you can safely take on the conversion procedure. To do this, first remove the screwdriver battery, carefully disassemble it, take out the battery.

When disassembling the battery, it is very important to keep the original terminals and their holders intact. Next, the terminals must be very carefully torn off from the batteries, after which a prepared wire with a cross section of 4 sq.mm is welded to them. When this is done, insert the terminals into the holders. Next, we drill the battery case so that the terminal holder can be fixed with the M3 screw.

The next step is to weld the capacitor to the terminals. This must be done so that the power supply of the personal computer does not go into protection against inrush current. Next, we drill the battery case under the wire. We solder the wire and assemble the entire structure. Then we take our power supply and find wires on it with an output of 12 volts. If there are two lines, then they twist together. The description on the PC PSU sticker will help you find the right wires.

Now you need to make sure that the power supply unit turns on without a computer. To do this, take any black wire and close it with any green one. That's all, in fact. After connecting, the screwdriver will work from 220 volts. The truth is, there is one "but". The power supply may be too weak. In this case, it will go into protection even with a capacitor connected. To solve this problem, you must add another device with a load to the circuit. A 5W 6V light bulb or an old hard drive from a computer is ideal.
