Solid versus double solid: what is the difference between the two markings

Marking is one of the most important elements of any road. It is necessary in order to streamline the movement of vehicles and protect road users from all sorts of accidents. There are many types of markup, each of which is used in its own specific situation and means a specific thing. True, the purpose is not always obvious. For example, not everyone understands the difference between single solid and double solid lines between lanes.

Single solid or 1.1 road markings are a form of road markings that are applied to a two-lane motor road. Such roads are found both outside the city and within its boundaries. The markings only mean that the motorist cannot cross it and drive into the oncoming lane, except for those cases when traffic is directly impeded by insurmountable obstacles.

Double solid or road markings 1.3 are a form of road markings that are applied to an automobile road with at least four lanes of traffic. In relation to it, all the same rules and procedures apply as in relation to the above markup. In fact, the fundamental difference between 1.1 and 1.3 lies only in the fact that the second markings are made more "expressive" for better visibility in conditions of a more active traffic flow.

The punishment also includes a fine. For both violation 1.1 and violation 1.3, the penalties are exactly the same.
