Harvesting cuttings

Breeding success depends on the planting material:

  1. Shoots are chosen strong, strong, without signs of decay, disease or insect pests.
  2. The diameter of the shank should be between 6 and 10 mm.

Before removing them for the winter, remove:

Then they are put away for storage using one of the following methods:

  1. In trenches dug on the site. For this, depressions of 50 cm are dug in the ground and along the length of the cuttings. The bottom is covered with a layer of moistened sand, cuttings are placed. Sprinkle 40 cm of soil on top, sprinkle with sawdust, peat or straw. With the onset of frost, such a place is covered with a film.
  2. In the refrigerator door. For such storage, the cuttings are soaked in water for 2 days so that they are stocked with a sufficient amount of moisture. The lower end is then wrapped with a damp towel and plastic bag. Make sure that the fabric does not dry out.
  3. In an underground or basement. This is the most preferred method. A layer of wet sand or sawdust is poured into the box. Cuttings are placed vertically in them. Make sure the filler remains moist.

Rooting of planting material

Cuttings are pre-prepared for planting:

  2. For two days they are placed in soft, settled water so that the seedlings are saturated with moisture. Some experienced gardeners add a growth stimulant to the liquid.

After this treatment, the cuttings are placed in prepared containers with soil. Saplings are placed in a warm, bright place. After 7-10 days, roots appear.
