Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of the "Build for Myself" channel!
In this article, I would like to share with you one of the most effective methods for removing greasy stains from clothes, which my grandmother recently taught me. Stain removal is based on the use of a hot object. In the house, of course, it will be - an iron.
When I saw how easy and simple it is to do, I froze a little with surprise and was puzzled by the question, what physical phenomenon causes the removal of fat by heating it. I found the answer, which I will tell you about, after which I will explain how to do it correctly and show the main error, because of which many people criticize this method.
Even Yakov Perelman, in his old book of experiments, described this method, a quote from the book:
With the effect of temperature, in fact, the surface tension of the substance decreases and using an iron, we distill the fat to another material, in our case it can be several napkins or pieces of toilet paper (any material that absorbs very well water).
The absorbent material is always placed on the opposite side, in our case, of the garment. If the ironing board cover is underneath, the fat will transfer to the cover. We need to get such an effect that the fabric is hotter than the absorbent material, otherwise, we will smear fat on the fabric and then say - "bad way"!
It is not forbidden to use a lining between the iron and clothes (you can use the same napkin), but the greasy spot should be in direct contact with the well-absorbent material located below clothes.
It is important to note that this method is good if the greasy stain is fresh, in a day only soaking or washing with special means will come to the rescue. But why wait, put a spot at a party, came home and immediately took him out.
For the experiment, we drip sunflower oil onto clothes:
Now, put several layers of napkins under the fabric and, just in case, cover it with a napkin on top so as not to smear the iron:
Next, heat up the spot with an iron. It took me about 4-5 minutes, rechecking the result every minute. The stain comes off slowly. Below I changed the napkin one more time:
Indeed, the bottom of the napkin is soaked with grease coming off the clothes. Let's warm further:
Here's the result:
So, friends, the old method works. Neither Yakov Perelman, nor grandmother deceived :-)))) I am very grateful to grandmother!
Thanks for attention!
