The process of planting flowers for the winter is not much different from the spring planting. The main feature is strong plant immunity and early germination. It will be possible to admire the beautiful flower garden earlier than usual.
How to choose a landing site
Planting flowers before winter can be carried out immediately on a permanent flower bed or on a selected area for growing seedlings.
It is necessary to loosen and level the ground well, and then outline the pattern of the flower bed. Then deepen the ridges and plant the seeds. The deepening of the beds should be twice as large as usual so that the ground is not washed away by autumn and spring rains.
If you plan to transplant seedlings in the future and arrange a flower bed in the spring, the pattern of the beds does not matter. It is enough to plant the seeds in one place and sign each variety.
Soil preparation
Before planting annuals before winter, the soil requires special preparation. This work must be carried out in September-October in a temperate climate and at the beginning of November in the southern regions. The main thing is that the outside temperature is stable. Preparation involves working not only with the beds, but also the creation of a substrate from peat and sand. However, the substrate can be purchased ready-made. Sowing seeds is necessary when sub-zero temperatures are stable and no thaw is expected. You need to scatter seeds in the garden twice as thick as when planting in spring. Then cover with the prepared mixture.

Perennial
Perennial flowers Arabis, Gaillardia, Doronicum, Carpathian bell, lavender and Aubrieta will grow well in lighted areas in loose and drained soil. Aquilegia plants and hellebore need to provide partial shade and loose moist soil. Before winter, the gentian should be planted in the shade and only on soil rich in vitamins. The most unpretentious perennial for planting before winter is yarrow, which grows in open places and does not require special conditions. The soil for it can be any.
Planning for future beds and flower beds is best done in the fall, when other summer cottage affairs do not require attention. Planting flowers can be done thoughtfully and leisurely.
