Not so long ago, the interior design was presented as something filled with details, textures and unusual structural elements. It was believed that the more of them, the better - the work of a designer should be visible to everyone. Today the situation has changed - conciseness in forms, colors and content is appreciated.

Accent wall
A few years ago, a frequent request from customers was an accent wall with photo wallpaper or wallpaper with expressive ornaments. To many, the monochromatic finish seemed too simple and boring.
Nowadays, paint or wallpaper for painting is often chosen to cover the walls. As for the photo wallpaper, bright realistic pictures were replaced by abstract geometry or unobtrusive prints.
Open colors
The transition from open colors to complex ones, composed of several basic shades, is clearly noticeable.
As a rule, they contain gray, so the finished combination has a slightly muffled dusty tone. Complex colors are welcome in both decoration and furniture.
Cold wood and metal
There was a revision of views on wooden textures in the interior. If earlier preference was given to cold colors - wenge, bleached oak, ash - today they mainly use warm shades - walnut, ash, acacia.
A similar trend is observed with metal - chrome parts are replaced with copper or brass, they turn into accents.
"Clean" style
Previously, interiors built according to the principles of one stylistic direction were appreciated. Each detail had to meet the characteristics of the chosen style. Today, this approach is not relevant, it was replaced by eclecticism.
Almost every modern design project can be called eclectic - often the classics with its moldings on the walls are mixed with a scandi or a loft. For example, in one room you can find a crystal chandelier and a concrete ceiling.
Partitions and niches
Interiors of the past are often replete with all kinds of decorative partitions, niches and arches. At the same time, all niches are necessarily equipped with backlighting in order to additionally attract attention. Often, such elements greatly overload the design, especially if the room is endowed with a low ceiling.
It is worth noting that arches have recently been gaining popularity again, but they have changed noticeably - they have acquired more laconic forms and finishes: they are no longer decorated with decorative bricks.
Built-in light
Until recently, customers were striving to make almost all light sources built-in - point light was represented by built-in soffits. As a result, the ceiling height had to be sacrificed. Today they are replaced by overhead and track models. Customers also tried to avoid floor lamps and table lamps, preferring wall sconces to them. The refusal was motivated by the desire to save space and avoid unnecessary wires.
Now, freestanding lamps are present in almost every design project; they are used to implement several lighting scenarios.
