How to attach a hammer to a handle without using wedges

There are many ways to fix the hammer to the handle. Most of these involve using things like glue, rubber backing, or the good old wedge. Less often, enthusiasts use wire for this or combine several methods. There is another reliable method that will allow you to secure the hammer securely without using all of the above.

What you need: drill, furniture barrel, washer, long furniture bolt, hex key

It should be noted right away that this method of fixing the hammer has two drawbacks. The first one is some complexity of the construction creation. The second is the need to periodically "tighten" the tool so that the hammer does not come off. The advantages of the design include its reliability during operation, as well as ease of maintenance of the hammer. In order to "drag" such a tool in the future, it will not be necessary to redo its entire structure - one turn of the hex key is enough. To work on hammering, you will also need a ruler and a simple pencil.

The first step is to prepare the tool handle. Having picked up a furniture bolt of the required length, markings should be applied. The bottom line is that our hammer will hold on to this very bolt, screwed into the handle from above. To do this, you need to make two holes so that inside the handle you get the letter T from the longitudinal and transverse holes. They are made in such a way as to match the dimensions of the supplied furniture hardware - barrels and bolts.

Having made the holes, we put the hammer on the handle. Then we drive the furniture barrel into the transverse hole. Now it remains to throw a washer on the bolt and screw it into the handle from the side of the hammer so that it enters the already inserted barrel. The entire structure is clamped with a hex wrench. The hammer is ready for use! Everything about everything will take 5-15 minutes of work.
