Fertilization begins after three years of its life. I will tell you how you need to feed your crop before winter so that heavy clusters of tasty fruits will form on it next year. As soon as I manage to harvest, be sure to add to the soil those nutrients that the vine has consumed throughout the season.

Autumn organics for grapes

First of all, at the beginning of September, I dig the soil under the plants and at the same time add organic fertilizers in the form of compost, rotted manure or bird droppings. Organics help improve the structure and breathability of the earth and make it soft and loose.

Organic fertilizers such as poultry manure can be added in both dry and liquid state, but the second option is considered preferable. The solution is prepared about a week and a half before use. To do this, chicken manure is diluted in liquid in accordance with 1: 4 and placed in a warm room, and before processing, the tincture is diluted with water in an appropriate ratio of 1: 4. Up to 0.5 liters of liquid infusion are used per plant.

Mineral fertilizers

In the third decade of October - early November, I begin to add phosphorus and potassium to the soil. To do this, I scatter fertilizers in the form of granules over the surface and then dig deep into the ground and water immediately. And you can simply water the soil in the near-trunk circle with the help of liquid solutions of nutrients.

Experienced growers advise to dig a ditch around the vine to a depth of about 30 cm, stepping back 45-50 cm from the trunk and pour the nutrient composition into it. In this case, the roots of the culture absorb nutrients faster and better.

For grapes, you can use both phosphorus and potassium fertilizers at the same time, since they combine well. For example, superphosphate (20-25 g), potassium salt (10 g) or potassium sulfate (25 g) are used. The ingredients must be dissolved in water (10 l) and pour over 1 sq. m area. Boric acid (1 g) and zinc sulfate (2 g) are sometimes added to the fertilizer.

The use of ash for autumn feeding

If the soil has not become impoverished during the season, then wood ash will be enough for it, which can be added before the autumn digging. In addition, ash powder in the amount of 300 g can be diluted in a bucket of water and poured such a solution under each plant.

This natural fertilizer is rich in potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and sodium. And with the help of ash, the acidity of the soil is reduced.

The last action is mulching

Plants should be mulched, for this you can use rotted compost, mowed grass or needles. This procedure is carried out so that nutrients are not washed out of the ground during the period of prolonged rains. And to all this, mulch protects the root system of grapes from frost.

Remember, if your vineyard is located on loose, fertile soil, fertilize once every three years, on sandy soil - feed every year, and if on sandy soil, then fertilize after two of the year.
