Even plastic boxes can inspire the creation of original and necessary items that will come in handy on the farm. It is worth showing a little imagination, making an effort, adding a few more decorative elements and fasteners so that no one will guess what, for example, a storage basket is made of. In order not to figure out how and what to do, we suggest that you get acquainted with the idea that was implemented by a creative hostess who picked up 3 empty boxes near a vegetable stall.
Plastic boxes, in which berries and fruits are stored, are considered by many to be junk material and are thrown away without hesitation. But there are enterprising people who even manage to attach them, and not for trivial storage of tools in the garage or shed. As, for example, a resourceful lady did it when she decided to make a mobile basket for storing things out of empty boxes.
For such a homemade craft you will need:
• plastic boxes of the same size - 3 pcs. (can be picked up for free on the market);
• thick cardboard (packing boxes for household appliances are ideal);
• burlap or any fabric (to create an attractive "facade" and lining), jute rope (for decoration);
• furniture wheels (if you decide to make the basket mobile);
• plywood trimming (to create a reliable bottom);
• masking tape, plastic ties.
Tools: glue gun, scissors, stationery knife, tongs, screwdriver, self-tapping screws.
If you decide to use used boxes, they should be thoroughly washed and dried before starting the transformation. Then the bottom of two boxes needs to be cut off, trying not to leave "hemp" so that they do not damage the lining fabric from constant mechanical stress. This can be done with a knife or tongs. After that, using plastic cable ties, we connect the boxes together so that we get a deep box.
When the base is ready, you need to cut out the corrugated cardboard so that even corners are obtained on the frame. The fixing process will facilitate the use of masking tape, which you should not regret.
Important: At the top of the frame, you need to fold the cardboard inward to create a tighter board. The material can be attached to the boxes with a glue gun - quickly, reliably, efficiently.
After that, you need to glue burlap or any other dense fabric on the cardboard so that the basket had an attractive appearance and harmoniously combined with the interior of the room in which she will be be. The fabric should be tightly tightened and secured using a glue gun.
If you decide to make a basket on wheels, then thick plywood and two slats are cut to the size of the bottom. The large part will be located outside the basket, but the plywood strips will be placed inside the frame. Using self-tapping screws, we connect the base and the strips, this can be done using a screwdriver or a drill with a special nozzle. Next, we fasten the furniture wheels.
The lid can be made from two pieces of thick cardboard. One should correspond to the outer size of the frame, but the second is cut out a little less (it will be inside the basket). Each piece is covered with sackcloth with a fold on the inside, and then the two halves are glued together - so that the covered surfaces are outside. Now you need to attach the handle. For this, a belt, jute rope, a stitched strip of the main fabric are suitable. Since the lid is made of cardboard, the handle can be secured with an awl or a thick needle.
It remains to make a lining so that things that will be stored in the basket do not rub against the plastic box. To facilitate the process of securing the material, it is better to make a lining with a lapel, which is fixed on the outside of the basket, and the rest of the canvas is neatly laid out inside the box. To prevent the lining from pulling out along with things, it is better to glue the joints of the fabric in several places, and put a piece of cardboard or plywood cut to size on the bottom. It is desirable to cover this part with material.
The storage basket is ready! It remains only to decorate it (optional) using jute brushes, buttons or any other decorative elements.
This is not the only necessary item that has been made using plastic crates. There are so inventive people who manage to turn waste material not only into shelves or racks, but they collect sofas, tables, chairs and many other interesting and useful of things.

If it is not possible to get plastic boxes, then cardboard and a few scraps of fabric are enough to create the necessary piece of furniture. If you don't believe that this is possible, we advise you to take a look at the process of its creation, shared by an inventive craftswoman.
