To get a good harvest of delicious cucumbers, I make the right feeding, protect the planting from insect pests and diseases. And I only use organic substances. To improve fruiting, I spray the cucumber bushes with milk and iodine. I will tell you how to properly prepare the composition and what benefits it brings to cucumbers.
What is the use of lactic-iodine formulations for cucumber bushes
Iodine is an inexpensive and excellent antiseptic. It contains many trace elements useful for garden plants. It stimulates the growth of cucumbers and prevents the following diseases:
- phytophthora;
- all types of rot;
- mosaic (white and green);
- copperhead.
Milk is also good for cucumber planting. It compensates for the deficiency of micro- and macroelements in the plant. This food also protects cucumber bushes from fungal diseases.
In combination with milk, iodine has a powerful effect: it protects and nourishes vegetables.
I start the prevention of cucumber diseases when 6 leaves appear on the seedling. I carry out repeated procedures every 14 days.
Pay attention to the fact that iodine-milk spraying can harm yourself. Therefore, when processing the planting in the greenhouse, I protect myself with overalls and a respirator. Indoors, iodine vapors are especially dangerous for our health.
Exceeding the dosage of iodine also harms the cucumbers: they begin to wilt, and the fruits are deformed.
The best milk-iodine composition for cucumbers
To feed a vegetable, I usually use dairy formulations, and to fight diseases - fermented milk.
To nourish the cucumber bushes, I prepare top dressing like this:
- I grind 40 g of laundry soap into shavings.
- I take hydroalcoholic iodine.
- I dissolve 1 liter of milk in 9 liters of warm water. I drip 25 drops of iodine into the resulting solution, add a bar of laundry soap crushed into a chip.
- I mix the components and spray the bushes with the ready-made liquid composition.
Sometimes I substitute whey for milk in this recipe. The resulting composition will protect cucumbers from diseases.
A few more of my recipes
In my personal plot, I also use other recipes based on iodine and milk:
- I mix 30 g of raw yeast with 1 liter of warm milk. I leave the mixture in a warm room for 12 hours to ferment. After the foam appears, I add more milk (in the same amount), 7 drops of iodine, 2 tbsp. l. wood ash. It is a great source of potassium.
- In 10 liters of water, I dissolve a little iodine (20 drops), milk (2 liters), urea (4 tbsp. l.) and soda (1 tbsp. l.). The resulting composition will improve flowering and speed up the appearance of ovaries.
When I don't have iodine at hand, I replace it with brilliant green. This affordable antiseptic has almost the same properties as iodine.
To protect the seedlings from late blight, I use this composition: I mix 1 liter of serum with 40 drops of iodine and 30 ml of hydrogen peroxide. I mix the ingredients. I process the seedlings with the resulting liquid.
How I handle the cucumber planting
I always handle planting a vegetable in cloudy cool weather. It is better to do this early in the morning or at dawn.
I spray the milk-iodine solution over the leaves on both sides. I water the soil under the bush with the remains. If it rains after treatment, it will have to be done again.
I use milk with iodine every 7 days. I carry out the first treatment 3 days after transplanting the seedlings to the garden.
Milk-iodine formulations for processing cucumbers are an excellent alternative to purchased chemicals. They can also nourish the bushes, and protect them from diseases. After such treatments, the yield increases, and the fruits become very tasty.
