Modern gardeners are trying to use folk remedies when growing crops. These include milk-iodine liquid. During the cultivation of tomatoes, I necessarily carry out spraying with a similar solution. This procedure helps the plants grow well and prevents many tomato diseases.
Why plants are sprayed with a milk-iodine solution
Tomatoes are demanding crops and must be cared for throughout the growing season. An effective and, moreover, not harmful method can be considered the processing of tomatoes with a mixture using a dairy product and iodine.
Advantages of this procedure:
- does not harm the human body;
- positively affects the formation of plants;
- has an environmentally friendly composition;
- the components necessary for the preparation of the solution are sufficiently available;
- accelerates fruit ripening.
What it relieves
Milk iodine liquid is used in the fight against:
- fungal, bacterial and viral infections;
- noncommunicable diseases associated with inappropriate care and disembarkation;
- pests.
Most often, tomatoes are subject to a disease such as late blight. It is this solution that can be used against this disease.
As soon as you find late blight, carry out the treatment daily.
The prepared composition perfectly drives away weevils, whiteflies, aphids, and ticks from plants. With the help of milk present in the solution, a protective film is created on the plant, which prevents parasites from infecting the culture.
Actions and benefits of ingredients
Milk-iodine mixture is an alternative to chemical preparations. Every substance is good for tomatoes.
The benefits of milk for tomatoes:
- due to the content of amino acids, the development of culture is improved;
- useful elements are needed for growth;
- after exposure to lactose, fungal microorganisms cannot develop, and at the same time, metabolic processes are improved.
The effect of iodine on tomatoes:
- increases productivity;
- helps plants grow and develop well;
- has antiseptic properties;
- improves the vitality of seedlings;
- increases immunity to diseases and parasites.
In addition, the use of iodine improves the composition of the soil.
Correct preparation of the solution
Excess iodine has a bad effect on the development of culture: burns form on the foliage, and vegetables with stems are deformed.
Processing rate
In the summertime, tomatoes must be sprayed every 14 days.
Optimum proportions for processing:
- for prevention, 0.5 liters of solution per plant is enough;
- when processing crops from diseases - 1 liter of composition per bush.
Inject the drug under the root using a spray bottle.
Recipes
All solutions should be used immediately; for preparation, take a warm liquid.
- Milk (1 l) and iodine (15 drops) are diluted in water (10 l). Use the solution at the onset of the disease.
- To strengthen immunity and increase resistance to diseases, the following composition is prepared: water (4 l), milk (1.5 l), iodine (18 drops).
- For preventive treatments, a solution is used in the proportion: one glass of milk and five drops of iodine infusion per one liter of liquid.
- The solution is prepared from a dairy product (2 l) and iodine infusion (20 drops) in a bucket of water. A bush requires 500 ml of composition.
Proper processing of tomatoes
This fertilizer is beneficial for tomatoes in July, just at that time they need amino acids.
Spraying rules for tomatoes:
- for the procedure, the air temperature should be no more than +18 ° C;
- the solution must be applied in the morning or evening;
- spraying should be carried out using a spray bottle.
The use of the solution for prophylactic purposes
Prevention methods:
- Seed processing is carried out before sowing. To do this, you need to make a solution from milk (0.5 l), iodine (1 drop). The components are diluted in water (1 l). The seeds are placed in the solution for 5-8 hours.
- Water the ground before planting seedlings. Dissolve milk (1 l) and iodine (5 drops) in a bucket of water.
- For prophylaxis, during the formation of sprouts, the following composition is poured into the container. Kefir (1 l) and iodine (two drops) are diluted in a liquid. The prepared mixture is used for watering the plants.
