A beautiful fragrant flower garden on a garden plot can be organized not only in a sunny place, but also in the shade. The most important thing is to choose the right plants. And I want to share my experience.

Brunner

Also known as the forget-me-not. This is an unpretentious plant that thrives in the shade of trees. Brunner blooms in May - small flowers of sky-blue color appear on compact bushes with large matte leaves. They contrast perfectly with the dark green shoots.

Flowering is long - new buds appear in place of faded buds. This continues until the first frost.

Hosta

Attractive undersized shrub. I love this plant because it looks great both in solo plantings and in compositions with other flowers. There are many varieties that are suitable for growing in well-lit areas or in the shade.

For planting under trees, I recommend giving preference to varieties with monochromatic leaves, since the pattern stands out brightly only when the plant is located in well-lit flower beds. In the shade, the leaves gradually lose their color.

The host is unpretentious in care. It takes root easily and grows quickly. During the flowering period, it produces long peduncles, decorated at the ends with flowers of pale pink, white or lilac.

Looks spectacular in a flower bed if you plant several different varieties at once. Looks laconically on the alpine slides and in combination with conifers.

Astilba

Astilbe blooms in the shady areas of my garden in the second half of summer. The medium-sized shrub is decorated with panicle flowers of various shades. I preferred to plant bright scarlet and pink. But in garden shops I also met white varieties.

Fern

Fern looks spectacular in the shade of trees. For me, it is combined with the pale blue flowers of the brunner, adds an area of mystery and mystery.

Currently, there are a large number of varieties of this plant. For myself, I have highlighted the following:

  • Japanese leaflet;
  • mnogoryadnik bristle-bearing;
  • ostrich.

These varieties have an attractive appearance - lush leaves of a rich green color, reaching length up to 1.5 m.The fern does not require special care, it feels great when planted in a sandy soil.

Siberian iris

I placed irises next to the fern. In the middle of summer, this plant pleases the eye with bright purple, lavender and yellow flowers. At the end of flowering, its long emerald leaves blend well with the lacy fern.

Rhododendron

Prefers partial shade. In my garden, a rhododendron is planted next to a blue spruce - fallen needles acidify the soil and create optimal conditions for growing a flower.

In spring, the compact bush is covered with delicate fuchsia flowers. With the onset of summer, its dark green leaves turn rich crimson.

Eternal begonia

I grow this vibrant beauty as a houseplant and in a bed, where it is combined with flowers such as:

  • mallow;
  • marigold;
  • curb dahlias.

I prefer varieties with high resistance to cold and shade. I don't dig begonia for the winter, but only slightly cover it with spruce branches. In the spring, as soon as the sun warms up, I remove the shelter. At a stable positive temperature, begonia is taken in growth in order to cheer up in the summer with bright scarlet, pink and snow-white flowers.

Lesser periwinkle

I covered the near-stem circles of the garden with such an unpretentious, compact plant like the lesser periwinkle. He does not need special care, easily tolerates shade. During the flowering period, it is covered with lilac, blue or white delicate flowers.
