Expo opened in Dubai on October 1. The Russian pavilion on it is one of the most unusual and memorable.
World Expo exhibitions have been held every five years since 1851, and there are two types of exhibitions - universal ("Registered") and specialized. In 2017, I visited Kazakhstan at Expo-2017 "Energy of the Future" (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/851681.html) and it was very interesting.
Expo 2020 in Dubai was postponed due to covid, it opened on October 1, 2021 and will last until March 31, 2022. This exhibition became the largest worldwide exhibition in history. 192 countries have built their pavilions.
2021 is officially declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Creative Economy (don't ask me what it is :)).
The theme of the Russian pavilion is "Creative Mind: Driving the Future". His project was created by the architect Sergei Tchoban. The multi-colored threads that change direction symbolize "the endless process of cognition, movement forward and the speed of progress."
In the center of the exhibition, called "The Mechanics of a Miracle", is a huge kinetic sculpture of the human brain, which tells about how the human consciousness is born.
With the help of projections, the image on the "brain" is constantly changing, in addition, the "brain" sometimes "opens up"
Around the "brain" are "neural connections" that react to visitors passing through them.
Another exhibit in the pavilion is The Rabbit Hole. It is a "forest" with "trees" that models cells and neural connections. In the "forest" there are heads of different animals, on which screens are placed, showing how these animals see the world.
Within six months of the exhibition, the expositions of the regions of Russia will change in the pavilion. The first region at the Expo was Tatarstan, which presented the city of Innopolis and the IT-park.
At the stand of Alisher Usmanov's USM holding, which unites Megafon, Metalloinvest, Udokan Copper and other companies, an LED installation "Universe of Possibilities" was installed. 60 thousand controllable LEDs are fixed on transparent strings, forming voluminous videos on the topics of ecology, society and science in connection with the three main areas of the holding's activities - mining, telecom and digital technologies.
The Rosatom installation called "Homo Science" tells about the knowledge accumulated by civilization, which, together with technology, lead mankind to a progressive future. The screen displays interact with two industrial robots.
An interactive installation by Rostec is activated when a visitor lingers in front of it for more than five seconds.
Installation "Russia Creates" (visitors can turn the pages of a virtual book with gestures and learn about the "creative industry of Russia" from the time of Peter to the present day.
Despite the fact that Russia has been participating in exhibitions literally from the moment of its foundation, the exhibition has never been held in our country. At the Dubai exhibition, Moscow presented its bid to host the World Expo in 2030. On the touch panel, you can select one of the popular misconceptions about life in Moscow and a refutation will appear on the screen.
During its one and a half century history, the meaning of Expo has changed a lot: earlier at Expo they mainly showed technological innovations, now they are more likely presentations of countries, and they can be very different. At this exhibition, the Russian pavilion is made in the high-tech style, and, for example, the Brazilian pavilion is surrounded by screens a swimming pool where you can walk on the water and hear how the tropics sound, and the Singapore Pavilion is more like an indoor park with many plants.
I have absolutely no memory of how the Russian pavilion looked at the exhibition in Kazakhstan four years ago, but at this year's exhibition the Russian pavilion turned out to be really beautiful and memorable.
It is a pity that I am not there, however, there is still almost six months. :)
