Regardless of the type of wood, materials made from it are deformed in one way or another. Boards curl, shrink, swell, bend, etc. Twisting and bending occurs due to the fact that the fibers inside the wood dry out unevenly. The tensions that appear inside provoke deformations.
Try to leave the wood that has been recently cut without any pressure. What will happen to her? That's right, the material will curl. Deformation is more pronounced on boards with a closer core of the tree. The farther from the middle, the less chance of twisting. How can this problem be dealt with?
There are several methods. For example, some people use a plane to remove protruding fragments. Others steam the boards, and then put oppression on them.
However, data can be very long, labor intensive, and not always efficient. Today we will consider 3 effective methods based on the use of physical force in the process of mounting materials. To level the board, you need to create a reverse stress in it.
1. We use a bolt and a reinforced metal corner
It is necessary to screw a reinforced corner to the supporting wall (the best option is 100 mm). We make a hole in it, we also drill the board and use a pin or bolt to pull the edge of the board.
It is permissible to use a clamp, but it must be professional. You need to pull so that the board completely touches the surface of the corner shelf.
Remember to secure the opposite end of the board so that it does not move when you take out the screw.
2. We use pinching
You need to take 2 boards that correspond in length to the pitch of the beams or rafter legs. We install one of them on the side of the deformation of the beam. We carefully drive the other, helping ourselves with a hammer. Thus, we pinch the beam, leveling it.
3. Making a lever
You need to step back about 15 centimeters from the support wall and make a lever. For these purposes, a corner, a shovel handle, an iron pipe, etc. are suitable. You need to fix the lever on top of the beam. Pressing lightly on the lever, we try to align the board.
If there are too many such boards, a tool can be designed to help bend the wood in the opposite direction. It works in the same way as a lever.
All described options can be combined. Check the situation and the availability of tools at the construction site. For example, if you used a corner and a bolt, you can further fix the board in this position using the pinching method. When all the rafters are installed, do not forget to fasten them.
