  • harmonious formation of the bush;
  • easy access to the stem and leaves during pinching;
  • better shoot development;
  • improved air traffic;
  • more local arrangement of bushes;
  • ease of watering and maintenance;
  • convenience of harvesting fruits.

Tied lashes are easier to maintain and control in the event of illness. In addition, the stalks lying randomly on the ground are prone to rotting and damage.

There are many types of support structures, among them there are quite voluminous structures, but in general, the installation and fastening of the lashes will not cause much difficulty even for beginners. And they will not take up space, on the contrary - correctly fixed lashes will form and streamline the growth and shape of the bushes, and also free up space on the beds themselves. I'll tell you about the most popular ones and briefly describe the installation processes.

Horizontal

Several supporting poles 1.5-2 m long are placed in pairs on both sides of the beds at a distance of half a meter from each other. Several parallel rows of strong thread are stretched between them, fastening sequentially on each column. The resulting structure resembles a stave, on the lower thread of which young shoots are attached. Over time, the stems grow along all the rows of rope.

This method is easy to install, but requires manual direction of the shoots. Suitable for beginner gardeners.

Vertical

The most popular method. In contrast to the horizontal one, here the ropes are located perpendicular to the beds. Only two support pillars are needed, they are driven in along the edges of the garden bed and connected with a crossbar. The threads are attached to the bar from above and tied to the young tendrils of cucumber stalks, along which the cucumber grows in the future.

This method saves a lot of garden space and is easy to install. However, the support must be secured thoroughly, otherwise it may fall and damage the plants.

In addition to the different designs, there are different types of the garter itself:

  • V-shaped (vertical view, contributing to the separation of the lashes, got the name from the peculiarity of the appearance);
  • the use of a net (instead of threads and tapes, a coarse-mesh net is fixed on the support posts, along which the lashes grow);
  • arc fastening (instead of pillars, arcs are used, to which garter bands are tied);
  • pyramidal (in the center of the bed a single pillar is installed, from which, like rays, they radiate around the straps of fastening the shoots);
  • on pegs (intended for low varieties and the length is measured individually for each stem);
  • on ladders (a stem is attached to a structure in the form of a ladder; a separate support is needed for each shoot).

In general, the appearance of structures is a separate kind of creativity for gardeners. Everyone comes up with and implements such a structure that will be as convenient as possible for the gardener, so if you want to deviate a little from the rules, then act boldly.
