Everything is very simple, I will show it by the example of a corner. If you put the corner with the top up, then this is the easiest way to start cutting, why?
The vertex at the moment of contact with the disk will have a very small contact area. Therefore, the disc quickly sinks into the metal and reaches a position where it cuts both shelves at the same time.
And even at the moment of cutting both shelves, the disc will have a small spot of contact with the metal, so the abrasive of the disc selects the metal path at high speed.
Plus, in this position it is quite convenient to hold the grinder, we do not put any effort, we just hold the tool in one almost motionless state. Movements are minimal.
This means that if it turned out easily and quickly with a corner, then when cutting a pipe or channel, you just need to arrange these materials in the likeness of a corner - with a sharp top up.
You will get the same high-speed cut. At the moment of contact between the disc and the metal, the same contact spot will be minimal. And we already know that this means fast penetration of the disc into the shelves of the material with practically no effort on the part of the cutter, just hold the tool.
So experience is experience, and knowledge of certain chips that experienced guys use will help any beginner to significantly increase the cutting speed and, plus, will facilitate this very high-speed cutting.
And the most important thing is the safety of cutting these materials with a grinder. You always need to do so that the cut off part does not lean on anything, hangs freely. So that when this part is completely cut off from the whole workpiece, there is no clamping of the disk.
And you can even undercut a little, leave it a little and just break it off, break off the part to be cut off from the whole, and then clean up this place with a disk.
