You can get a high yield of cucumbers with excellent taste only by observing the rules for planting and caring for the crop. One of the most important is timely fertilization. I want to share my experience in this matter.
Features of feeding cucumbers in greenhouses
Regular fertilization from the moment of planting seedlings in the ground until the end of the fruiting period allows you to get healthy, strong plants that give a high yield.
During the flowering period, I bring in both organic and mineral compounds. So I stimulate the formation of a large number of ovaries. At this time, elements such as nitrogen and potassium are especially needed.
Nitrogen contributes to the active growth of green mass, and potassium strengthens the root system, increases the plant's immunity.
I apply fertilizers under the root of the bushes or by spraying, evenly irrigating the lashes.
Usage schemes
To get the maximum effect from feeding, I recommend adhering to a specific application scheme. So, I add the compositions every week, alternating mineral and organic.
Organic introduction
For the preparation of such compositions, I use plant residues, cow dung, bird droppings.
One of the most effective recipes, in my opinion, is based on chopped herbs.
Components:
- nettle - 1 kg;
- dandelions - 1 kg;
- water - 10 liters.
For cooking, I use a barrel, which I place in the sun. I fill its volume by 1/3 with crushed plant residues. I fill it with water, close the lid tightly and leave it to infuse for 7 days.
The fermentation process can be accelerated by adding fresh yeast, brown bread, humus or manure.
I dilute the finished infusion with water in a ratio of 1: 5 and spill the plants strictly under the root. I recommend fertilizing after watering, so it will be absorbed faster.
Another effective way is to use a wood ash solution. The drug contains a sufficient amount of nitrogen, increases the resistance of the crop to various diseases and insect pests.
Components:
- wood ash - 1 glass;
- water - 10 liters.
I mix the elements and insist during the day. Then I put it under the root of the plant.
To extend the fruiting period, I recommend using an infusion based on dry rotten hay.
Components:
- hay - 1 kg;
- water - 10 liters.
Finely chop the hay and pour 10 liters of warm water. I insist for 2 days and water the cucumbers under the root.
The composition contains hay bacillus, which actively fights against pathogenic microorganisms.
Mineral compositions
I alternate organics with mineral supplements.
I recommend using formulations based on nitrate: I dilute 25 g of granules in 10 liters of water. I use it for root feeding.
I alternate with urea: I dilute 50 g of the drug with 1 bucket of water.
Such solutions are best used in hot weather, adding to the soil after watering.
On a cloudy day, I recommend sprinkling cucumber leaves with 10 g of urea, dissolved in 10 liters of water.
Traditional methods
In my practice, I often use folk recipes, since they are environmentally friendly - they do not harm plants and soil. At the same time, they stimulate the growth, development of cucumbers, and improve fruiting.
I recommend paying attention to the yeast-based feeding:
- fresh yeast - 100 g;
- water - 10 liters.
I dilute the yeast in warm water, leave for 3-4 days. Then I water the planting.
To get the maximum benefit from fertilization and not harm the plants, I advise you to strictly adhere to the dosage. During the fruiting period, I do not use formulations based on chicken droppings. Since the component activates the growth of green mass, the number of ovaries will be significantly reduced.
