Due to their excellent taste and delicate pulp, varieties of pink tomatoes are becoming very popular among summer residents. But they are more difficult to cultivate than regular red tomatoes. I grow pink varieties of tomatoes at my dacha every summer and I want to share my experience with you.
What needs to be done to prevent cracking on tomatoes
With improper care, the skin of pink tomatoes cracks. Do not forget that the bushes do not tolerate drought, so the soil in the garden must be constantly moistened. I regularly irrigate tomatoes with settled water, I carry out the procedure at least twice every seven days. Make sure that the liquid does not get on the leaves and shoots.
Watering dose is similar to watering red tomatoes: about 4 liters of liquid per square meter. m before flowering, and in the future, the volume of water should be gradually increased. During the formation of vegetables, the liquid rate should be approximately 12 liters for the same area. If you are afraid to overdo it, irrigate the bushes in small portions, but daily. You can also use drip irrigation.
The skins of tomatoes may crack due to changes in air temperature. It is necessary to adjust the difference between day and night temperatures. If there is a sudden cold snap in the morning, put a container with hot coals in the greenhouse building. During hot weather, white curtains can be hung on the walls and ceiling to keep plants from overheating.
Protection of tomatoes from late blight
Before planting seedlings (in spring), you need to spill the soil with a disinfecting compound.
For preventive purposes, I recommend preparing the following solution: mustard powder (4 tbsp. l.) Stir in warm liquid (100 ml), and dilute copper sulfate (100 g) in a liter container with warm water. Then pour both mixtures into a ten-liter bowl, put sodium carbonate there (2 tbsp. l.), ammonia (1 tsp. l.), bring the solution to 10 l and mix thoroughly. This volume should be enough for 10 sq. m.
Every 14 days, from the beginning of flowering to the full ripening of tomatoes, spray the bushes with Alirin-B in the amount of 10 tablets per bucket of liquid. Use the composition on an area of 100 sq. m.
Do pink tomatoes need a garter
Some undersized pink tomatoes require support. Therefore, pre-install a trellis up to 1.5 m high. Then, as the bush grows, tie up the shoots in the form of a fan.
Top dressing of pink tomatoes
Large fruits require a lot of nutrients. In the phase of development of seedlings, before transplanting into the soil, irrigate with a mineral fertilizer containing a large amount of phosphorus (Terraflex-start or Aquarin).
Plant the plants up to 50 cm apart. Pour the rotted compost mixed with a handful of ash powder into the holes with a shovel. Spill over with liquid and plant the sprouts, slightly spudding them with a nutritious substrate.
After two weeks, feed the tomatoes with a prepared mullein solution in a ratio of 1:10, scatter superphosphate around the plants in the form of granules (1 tbsp. l. / 10 bushes). After 10-14 days, feed the bushes a second time using a complex mineral fertilizer, after about 14 days, you need to carry out the third feeding using the same drug.
Correct stress management in cultures
To prevent the plants from developing stress due to bad weather conditions or inadequate care, spend monthly treatment of young bushes with "Narciss-S", and treat adult crops with "Eco-gel" simultaneously with others means.
For example, for preventive purposes against root rot and for better abundant flowering, combine preparations such as "Ecoel" and "Previkur". To combat the whitefly in the greenhouse, use Fitoverm together with EcoGel. And "Zircon" together with "Eco-gel" will help accelerate the development of tomatoes and the ripening of vegetables.
