After replacing sewers or pipes, PVC scraps are often left in the house. If there are no couplings, then they are considered useless. But do not rush to think so and throw them in the trash. There is a universal method thanks to which you can connect several pieces of pipe together. In this case, couplings and other devices are not needed.
The main advantage of this method is speed and maximum simplicity. You need to do the following:
- 1. It is necessary to pick up two fragments of pipes and decide on the place where the bell will be. Now you need to make a chamfer. On one piece, where there will be a bell, it should be internal, and on the second - external. The chamfer is necessary to facilitate future work.
- 2. A fragment of a pipe with a future socket must be heated. To do this, you can use a construction hairdryer, open fire or boiling water.
I chose the last option for myself. Pour water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. The volume of the liquid must be such that the end of the pipe drops by 6 - 7 cm.
It is enough to hold the product in boiling water for a couple of minutes. After that, we take out the pipe and take in our hands another fragment, on which the chamfer was made from the outside. It is with this side that the product must be inserted into the heated pipe. With a few simple movements, the pieces fit together seamlessly.
Additionally, it is worth noting that the pipe is heated in boiling water up to a temperature of only 100 degrees. Initially, I was skeptical about this method, as I thought that this temperature would not be enough to form a socket and connect pipes. But I was pleasantly surprised by the result. The pipes fit easily into each other and were securely fastened.
When using a building hair dryer, the process will go faster, as the PVC material heats up more. Because of this, the connection of the pipes to each other will be of better quality.
As soon as all work is completed, it is necessary to wait for the material to cool completely. After that, I decided to seal the joint with silicone sealant to make it more reliable. This manipulation is optional. If there is no sealant, then you should not buy it. The connection will be strong anyway.
This method is not recommended for critical places in apartments of multi-storey buildings! There are many other places where this compound can be applied. For example, make a pipe from the scraps for drawing out a vegetable pit. And if you put a pole with a float into the pipe, you get a water level for a caisson or a water tank and much more...
