Peppers were not tied in the greenhouse. I found the reasons and corrected the situation. Now the peppers are fruitful

  • Dec 09, 2021

When growing peppers, many gardeners face such a problem: after planting, the culture develops well and even gives color, but there is no fruit ovary. I faced her too. Since I managed to figure out why this complication occurs and how to quickly fix the situation, I will share my experience with you.

Why peppers in the greenhouse are not tied

In indoor conditions, the problem of lack of ovary is not uncommon. First, I'll tell you why barren flowers appear.

This complication usually occurs with a deficiency of potassium and boron, mistakes made in planting care.

If the pepper bushes in the greenhouse bloomed on time, but there is no ovary, then the main reason is sterile pollen.

The following factors also cause a problem:

  • large temperature drops day and night;
  • poor ventilation of the greenhouse;
  • insufficient lighting;
  • too humid air, which prevents pollen from spreading through the flowers;
  • instagram viewer
  • excessively warm air (above + 28 ° С) provokes pollen sterility;
  • absence of pollinating insects.

Other reasons also lead to the absence of ovary.

Abuse of nitrogen fertilization

Pepper does not give ovary with an excess of nitrogen-containing fertilizers. I do not advise feeding the planting of peppers with manure.

Temperature too high or too low

Pepper loves warmth. I recommend keeping the temperature in the greenhouse between + 23-28 ° C.

If the ovary on the bushes began to dry without forming a fruit, blame the cold air, night frosts, watering with cold water for what is happening.

The complication is eliminated by watering with warm water at night.

At an elevated temperature of +30 ° C, the plant sheds its buds. I solve this problem by regular watering and spraying of the planting.

Errors in choosing a site

The choice of a site for a greenhouse is a responsible business. The soil under the greenhouse is not supposed to be:

  • dense;
  • heavy;
  • too sour.

Groundwater should not be too close. An excess of moisture will lead to a slowdown in growth, the buds and ovary will not form, the roots will begin to rot. This problem is difficult to solve. It's easier to avoid it.

The greenhouse should be installed in a well-lit area. Pepper doesn't like shade.

Lack of nutrients

Lack of nutrients is fraught with defective plant development.

Before planting pepper in the greenhouse, I add organic matter, wood ash, vermicompost to the soil.

At the initial stage of the growing season, I use nitrogen and phosphorus compounds.

Before flowering, the soil should be enriched with potash and phosphorus preparations. Deficiency results in poor or no flowering.

Unrealized pollination

An ovary is formed on the pepper only after cross-pollination. It consists in transferring pollen from the stamens to the pistil. The pollen should be light. Therefore, during this period, I carry out irrigation carefully.

Insects play a significant role in this process. I attract them to the greenhouse, sprinkling the planting with sweet syrup.

What to do

To eliminate the causes of the appearance of barren flowers and get full fruiting, I do the following:

  • I observe the watering regime;
  • I pour it with warm water;
  • I feed the bushes with complex compounds in which there is boron and no nitrogen;
  • I add light to the bushes if necessary;
  • I regularly ventilate the greenhouse;
  • during the growing season, I pinch the tops (the more side shoots, the more ovaries);
  • I cut off flowers without an ovary in time;
  • I artificially pollinate plants with a brush;
  • I adhere to agricultural techniques.

Prophylaxis

In order for the pepper to bear fruit on time, I do not neglect preventive measures:

  • choose the right place for a greenhouse;
  • provide ventilation, supplementary lighting, heating and irrigation;
  • I use high quality seeds;
  • I plant seedlings on time;
  • I plant the bushes in pairs at a short distance from each other for pollination;
  • before flowering, I fertilize the planting with compounds with potassium, boron, phosphorus.

Useful Tips

I, as an experienced gardener, use the following techniques when growing peppers:

  • I break the beds from west to east for better lighting of the planting;
  • I use immunomodulators before the ovary appears;
  • I spray the ovaries with a yeast solution;
  • I cut the fruits at the stage of technical maturity, which contributes to the emergence of new ovaries.

It takes a lot of effort for the pepper in the greenhouse to produce a large harvest. Following my advice, you will achieve abundant ovary and good fruiting.
