The gates perform not only a protective function, they also play a huge role from the point of view of aesthetics, because no one I will like it when a brand new house is located on the territory of the courtyard, and the doors of the entrance gate hang with a bias. relative to a friend.

A few months ago, it was so, until we got our hands and to the gate ...

Our old gate:

When I set myself the goal of hanging a new gate, as I thought, completely logical questions arose: "How to hang the gate leaves so that they are perfectly level? At what point and how should the hinges be welded? ". After all, here an error in hanging the loop of a few millimeters gives a collar deviation of more than one centimeter!

Before starting the manufacture of gates, I consulted with many craftsmen and counted three installation methods. The first option is the most common, but also the most unsafe, since it is fraught with the risk of getting skewed. It is done as follows:

Method number 1

Two identical gates are made and installed in the opening. In the opening, the location of the sashes is regulated by wedges, bricks and planks are placed. As soon as we set the gate in level, we checked that the sashes are not displaced - the hinges are welded. The risk is that both sashes in the process of adjustment each live their own lives and the slightest shift of one of the gates will come out obliquely immediately after hanging the hinges.

The second point is that the hinges during welding can lead very strongly and it happens that the hinge even pulls the whole sash along with it. This is another reason for the appearance of a skewed gate.

Method number 2

The second method is more reliable than the first and consists in the following:

Here, both sashes are also installed in the opening, only after adjustment are they welded together with overlays, so the backlash between them is excluded. After checking the horizontal and vertical levels, the loops are welded, after which the metal linings are cut off and the welded seams are ground. The downside is that you need to additionally cut out the overlays, weld them, then cut off, clean these places, and then paint over again! But, on the other hand, the gate will hang perfectly straight.

Method number 3

And I liked the third method most of all, I just took it into service. It is very simple to follow it, and besides, both gate wings will hang perfectly.

The leaves are not made separately, but a single frame is assembled according to the size of the opening:

In this case, it is much easier to measure distances with a tape measure and less likely to be mistaken. One large collar is made according to the size of the opening, and only then the center is measured and the overall frame is divided into two equal parts. But, not yet cut.

Once the frame is level, the hinges are welded:

And only when the main welds on the hinges are made, the frame is cut into two parts.

As you can see, there are much fewer body movements, and the result is a very high-quality editing. As soon as I divided the frame in half, I immediately removed each of the leaves from the hinges and painted over with paint.

Here is such a simple, but at the same time very reliable way of constructing a gate.

P.S.

The frame is welded and installed alone in 2.5 days - this once again proves its ease of installation. It took another 2 days for painting, boarding and bolting. If I made the gate leaves separately, then I don't even know how long it would take - it would definitely take much more time!

And that's all, and I hope that the article will be useful to you!
