If you grow cucumbers on your plot and want to get a fresh and juicy harvest as early as possible, I will introduce you to the excellent Zozulya F1 variety. The variety is designed specifically for greenhouse cultivation and has not lost its popularity for many years.
General characteristics of the variety
Zozulya F1 is a development of domestic breeding. Its main advantage can be considered the possibility of successful cultivation in most climatic zones. The hybrid can also be grown outdoors, although in this case the yield will be much lower.
The hybrid is characterized by early ripening. A ripe crop can be removed already after a month and a half from the moment of planting. The yield of Zozuli is at a high level: up to 20 kilograms of juicy cucumbers can be harvested from one square of plantings. The average length of the fruit is about 19 centimeters, the weight ranges from 150 to 300 grams. Cucumbers are often even, sometimes they can have a slight bend. Under the thin, bright green peel, there is a dense and aromatic pulp with barely noticeable seeds.
Thanks to the weakly braided bushes without the formation of stepchildren, even a novice gardener will cope with the care of the variety. The plants themselves are quite large, so no more than three bushes should be planted within one square.
Another positive feature of the hybrid can be considered resistance to temperature extremes, and, in principle, unpretentiousness in care. In addition, cucumbers have a good natural immunity to mosaic and root rot.
Zozuli growing principles
You can grow a hybrid both by seed and through seedlings. In both cases, for successful cultivation, it is necessary to successfully choose a place and prepare the soil. The hybrid loves light soils with neutral acidity. If the soil in your greenhouse is not fertile, you can prepare an excellent substrate yourself. To do this, you need to take peat and sod land, as well as humus in a ratio of 5/2/3. The layer of the resulting soil should be at least 15 centimeters thick.
Regardless of the characteristics of the soil, disinfection must be carried out before planting. I do this with a manganese solution, diluting 3 grams of the substance in 10 liters of hot water.
Hybrid care basics
As I already said, Zozulya F1 has no special claims to cultivation and care. However, to get a rich harvest, it is worth adhering to a number of mandatory activities:
- The bushes are quite tall, so cucumber lashes need a garter to support.
- The aisles should be cleaned of weeds in a timely manner.
- The number of hybrid ovaries directly depends on the intensity of watering, so you should not spare the moisture. A sufficient single dose of water for a young plant is half a liter, while for adult bushes, the norm is twice as much. Until the cucumbers have bloomed, they need to be watered at least once a week. As soon as flowering begins and the ovaries go, watering should be increased up to once every two days. It is worth watering the beds only with warm water and not allowing the soil to dry out, otherwise the crop will have an annoying bitterness.
- The hybrid responds very well to feeding, and both mineral and organic compositions are equally good for it. A good result is shown by combining different types of fertilizers. As soon as the first real leaf appears, the cucumbers can be fed with a composition of "Nitrofoska" and poultry droppings. To prepare a working solution, a tablespoon of the product and a glass of liquid infusion of chicken droppings must be diluted in ten liters of clean water. As soon as the second full-fledged leaf is formed, you can feed it based on potassium sulfate and chicken droppings. To do this, dilute a teaspoon of potassium sulfate and a couple of glasses of droppings in ten liters of water. It is advisable to fertilize twice, with an interval of two weeks. As soon as the bushes bloom, it is favorable to spray with a urea solution, for the preparation of which 20 grams of the substance must be diluted in five liters of water.
- It is worth knowing that frequent harvesting accelerates the growth of new cucumbers, therefore, it is advisable to remove the fruits at least once every five days.
