Let's turn to the history of the variety creation. Our plum was bred in the late 40s of the 20th century by Russian scientists in the Far East. The hybrid is great for growing in northern and near-northern latitudes.

The trees grow relatively low, up to 1.8-2 meters, with a spherical crown. The stem is not brightly expressed, shoots and branches are brown-brown with numerous light buds and white beautiful inflorescences, three in each bud. The foliage is dense, the oval leaves are dark green and shiny. Fruits are medium, oval, slightly flattened, blue-claret. The pulp is juicy, sweet and sour, with a gently outlined aroma.

I can attribute to the main advantages of the Manchu beauty:

  • early maturity;
  • juiciness and size of fruits;
  • universal use of drains;
  • drought resistance;
  • resistance to most varietal diseases;
  • good keeping quality and safety during transportation.

Of the bright minuses, I can single out:

  • impossibility of self-pollination;
  • fruit shedding;
  • some tendency to damp.

I will note the fact that for this tree it is necessary to immediately choose a permanent place, since an adult plum does not tolerate transplantation very well.

You need to plant a beauty in the spring. It is better to choose a site with the following parameters:

  • sod-podzolic soil or loam;
  • neutral or minimal acidity;
  • the occurrence of groundwater is not higher than 1 m;
  • south or southwest direction;
  • the presence of a slight rise or slope;
  • an abundance of natural light;
  • lack of drafts;
  • lack of strong shading;
  • good drainage;
  • the inability to accumulate melt and rainwater.

For planting, choose those trees that are adapted to growth in your area. Make sure that the trunk and branches are not severely damaged or diseased. The bark should be smooth, the branches elastic and strong, the root system developed and strong. I note that there should be no wrinkled areas on the bark - this is a sign of drying out. Such a tree may not take root.

Fertilize the soil well before planting. The following mixture is perfect for this: 1 sq. m and for 35 kg of manure take 300 g of carbamide, 800 g of azofoska and 200 g of potassium chloride. The depth of the digging should be no less than a shovel bayonet.

Step-by-step process:

  1. We dig a hole 50 cm deep and the same diameter.
  2. At the bottom leaves a mound of earth with a shovel.
  3. Drive a small wedge into the center of the hole.
  4. We lower the seedling into the hole with a root collar depth of 6-7 cm above the soil.
  5. Spread the rhizome, cover it halfway with earth, tamp the top layer.
  6. Pour with a bucket of water.
  7. Tie the tree to the wedge.
  8. Top up the earth.
  9. Pour about 30 liters of water under the drain.
  10. Sprinkle with a layer of sawdust.

Leave a gap of 1.5 meters between the seedlings.

I note that this is a pollinated variety and the presence of pollen-bearing insects is mandatory.

When properly planted, the plum will take root quickly and will delight you with its appearance and yield.
