Kidney mite

You can notice this very dangerous pest in the spring by the enlarged buds, which acquire a loose structure, and then do not bloom. The yield on the affected bushes is sharply reduced.

To prevent the development of a kidney mite, I immediately cut out and burn all infected stems. I irrigate shrubs with colloidal sulfur. To prepare the working solution, I take 10 g of the drug in a 10-liter container of water.

Currant aphid

Are exposed to damage to the top of the stems. They are deformed. To save the bushes before the buds swell, I irrigate them with Nitrafen, making an 8% solution.

An infection that can destroy the entire crop develops slowly. Therefore, immediately after the snow melts, I carefully examine the bushes. All stems, where there are characteristic symptoms, I immediately remove. I will definitely burn them.

Anthracnose

This fungal infection is more likely to damage foliage. In July, the bushes begin to lag behind in development, so spring prevention is important.

In April, I irrigate all plantings of currants with a solution (6%) of Nitrafen.

Powdery mildew

Among the common diseases that currants suffer from, I can mention powdery mildew.

To protect the culture from insidious infection before pecking the buds, I practice irrigation with a solution (6%) of "Nitrafen". If the lesion was extensive, I repeat the procedure after 7-8 days.

Boiling water application

An effective technique that serves as the prevention of diseases and allows you to destroy overwintered pests is the use of boiling water before the buds are pecked.

I cover the surface of the earth with a dense material, for example, a tarp, to protect the roots from hot water. I pour boiling water over all adult bushes using a watering can.
