Greetings, dear guests!
More recently, I published an article on how I made a huge griddle for cooking food on charcoal. Such a miracle is called - saj! If you are interested, here is a link to my article, there is also a full video: "Do-it-yourself saj - for evaluation!"
Saj is a large frying pan, usually made of cast iron, but also made of steel, my saj is made of 6mm steel. The dishes, originally from Azerbaijan, are intended for cooking according to oriental recipes, everything is fried and stewed on it, without exception, meat, fish, and vegetables ...
This is such a thing:
... I got 15 kilograms. I did Saj, and now it's time to make a stove for it, I went through the options for a long time and settled on this ...
At the next metal acceptance, I chose a pair of discs, a pair of "Gazelle" stampings, since Zhiguli ones have a very small diameter. They sold them to me at a price of 35 rubles per kg, in the end it came out for both 800 rubles.
I think I took it at a good price, since they accept metal at 24 rubles / kg.
Upon arrival home, I began to manufacture. On one of the discs, I cut off a part for bolting to the hub - this will be the top of the furnace:
On the second disc I had to put patches on the holes. This will be the bottom of the oven:
I did not weld the large holes on the disc completely and made small cracks for air blowing. I welded both discs to each other and, with the help of a grinder, cut out a door for throwing firewood. I placed the door almost in the center so that a "trough" would form in the lower part of my stove and the coals would not fly out to the ground when opened:
I bought the cheapest stamped steel gate hinge at a hardware store and cut it in two to provide the hinges for my door. The loop cost 150 rubles.
Almost done! At the same place, at the acceptance, I bought a steel pipe with a diameter of 20 mm, paid around 90 rubles and made three legs out of it. Now it remains to ignite the furnace so that all the grease formed during driving a car burns out from the disks.
Ultimately, the following thing happened:
And we already cook such dishes on it.
1. Fried wings with baked vegetables:
2. I just decided to fry potatoes "in a village style":
If you don't have saj yet, don't hesitate, get it! I highly recommend having such a thing in a private home. A great thing for a change, but of course we don't forget the brazier either :-))) I'll be honest that in at home, we practically stopped cooking in a pan - I want to fry something, immediately light it bake!
Thank you for your time!
Good luck and good!
