Materials and tools

The list of tools depends on the material. As a rule, use a shovel, hammer, wire cutters. If a metal structure is planned, you need to take a metal saw, as well as a welding machine.

Many install the structure on a foundation, which ensures stability and no corrosion. The posts can be made of metal or wood. A wire is pulled between them, which is fastened with nails or self-tapping screws to the supports.

First you need to install the pillars. Metal structures are installed on a concrete base.

Vertical single-plane supports

These are simple and popular designs. They make it easier to prune plants and cover them for the winter. It is difficult to place several trunks on a single-plane trellis. This option is not suitable for spreading grapes.

Gardeners advise to bury the supports in the ground at least 80 cm. This will provide ground grip and a good level of stability.

It is important to prepare the pits, in which the sand is then placed in a layer of about 20 cm. A column is placed in the pit, then it is covered with used building materials. Next, the pillar is fixed with cement mortar.

Fasteners can be nailed to the structure. Each mount should be approximately 45 cm apart from the previous one.

The wire is stretched after about 5 days. During this time, the cement hardens.

Supports with a visor

The design is one-plane. Horizontal supports are attached to the vertical surface. A wire is pulled between them. Plus in increasing the usable area and convenience of harvesting. The bunches hang from the plane, they are always clearly visible.

Two-plane supports

The main plus is that such a support allows the shoots to be located on two trellises at once. This increases the yield, since the load of the shoots on the bush is reduced.

There are single-row double-plane trellises, as well as V and Y-shaped options.

Arcuate supports

If there is free space, then it is better to make a support in the form of an arc. Such supports create partial shade, in which it is convenient to care for the plant and harvest.

The main material can be a plastic pipe. In addition to flexibility, this material is also resistant to environmental negative factors. In addition to pipes, you will also need polyurethane foam, corners and metal rods.

Algorithm for creating a trellis

There are several steps to be taken:

  • cut pipes into pieces of equal length;
  • place metal rods in vertical supports;
  • fill the pipe cavities with polyurethane foam;
  • process the ends of metal rods with bitumen;
  • collect an arch with corners;
  • install the structure in the hole;
  • concrete supports.

It is not difficult to make trellises for grapes. It is important to decide in advance on the design and materials.
