An effective way to get rid of overgrowth of trees and shrubs on the site

Summer residents and owners of personal plots know firsthand how difficult it is to deal with undergrowth after they have cut down a tree or shrub. It is not always possible to dig a stump out of the ground, and you can cut out young shoots and even dig them up for an infinitely long time, because the main root of most plants will try to give young shoots for a long time. We have selected several effective methods that will definitely help solve this problem.

Anyone who has at least a piece of land on which there is a garden or at least a few trees knows that these plants have to not only be planted, but also parted with them. Whatever reasons prompted you to get rid of an old or unnecessary tree or bush, it is not so difficult to cut it down. Problems will appear a little later, when the question arises of how to get rid of the stump. And even if he himself does not interfere in any way, the growth, which is growing at an incredible speed, can pretty much spoil the life of any gardener.

Naturally, the best way to get rid of all the problems at once is to uproot the stump, but this the process is so laborious and requires a lot of physical strength that not everyone decides on such cardinal measures. Most summer residents leave them in place and stubbornly fight against actively emerging undergrowth. Despite the fact that very few people manage to solve this problem with a swoop, there are still effective methods that will definitely help, because they have already been tested in practice.

A tree or a stump remaining previously must be cut down as close to the ground as possible.
A tree or a stump remaining previously must be cut down as close to the ground as possible.

If the trees have been cut off on the site for a long time, and the shoots do not leave in any way, then you need to clear everything that has grown around the stump and cut it as close to the ground as possible. In the case when the tree consisted of several trunks, it is necessary to determine which of them is the main one, since it is under it that the central root will be located, which provokes the active emergence of new sprouts.

Use a drill to make as many deep holes as possible.
Use a drill to make as many deep holes as possible.

After that, you can grab the drill / screwdriver, as well as the drill of the maximum permissible diameter and try to make deep holes. The more "tunnels" you get, the faster you get rid of the annoying undergrowth. If there is a crown drill-nozzle for a tree, then you can make recesses with a large diameter (it will turn out in the form of a glass), then only a few holes are made.

Important! Deepening must be done carefully so that there are no cracks or cuts in the bark. If it so happened that the drill went beyond the trunk or a chip was formed, then the damaged areas should be repaired with garden pitch.

A regular watering can with a thin spout will help fill the holes with ammonium nitrate or potassium nitrate.

All holes must be tightly closed.

Then, using an ordinary watering can, fill each hole with granules of ammonium nitrate or potassium nitrate powder. Tamp them well with a stick of a suitable diameter and seal them. For these purposes, you can use caps from plastic bottles of different diameters, as long as they tightly close the holes.

In the case when the diameter of the "tunnels" was small, then you can cover with polyethylene, preferably black, and securely fix the film so that the rains do not wash out the fertilizer or make it less concentrated. This method is called chemical, so it will best help to destroy the root of an unnecessary tree, while nearby plants and the earth will not be affected.

If you decide to use ammonium nitrate to destroy the root, then it will have to be added periodically, since it decomposes very quickly. During the destruction of the central root, this procedure will have to be repeated several times. If there is potassium nitrate, then you can forget about the stump for six months, the process of destruction will go on without your participation. During this time, the chemical composition will completely destroy the root, and you can forget about the overgrowth forever.

It is also worth mentioning that the stump itself will not rot so quickly, but it will take a long time. Most often, there is an urgent need to free up a site for the construction or planting of a new plant, and in order not to overstrain, it is better to do the above actions, only then proceed to the final parts. To do this, you need to remove the corks or polyethylene, try to fill the smoldering coals into the grooves. Due to the fact that the coals get inside the stump, it will begin to smolder and after a couple of days the problem will be completely resolved.

If the stump is small, then you can arrange a compost heap on it.

For those who prefer more gentle methods and do not accept the use of herbicides or other chemicals on their site, the authors of Novate.ru have selected a few more tips.

• If the tree was small and you are in no hurry, then a compost heap can be arranged in this place. As a result of organic decay, the roots of a cut tree will die within a year, which will eliminate the need to fight overgrowth. The next year, this place can be used as beds for pumpkin plants, and in the third year, feel free to plant new trees or shrubs.

You can burn an old stump with the help of notches and fuel, but over a fresh one, it is better to install a barrel for burning garbage.

• In the case when the tree was massive or you need to quickly get rid of the stump, which by itself will entail the destruction of the overgrowth, use more radical methods. With the help of a drill, several holes are made, any combustible substance is poured in and ignited. I would like to remind you that this method is not at all safe, so if there are other plantings or buildings nearby, experienced gardeners use an old metal barrel without a bottom, set it on a stump and burn unnecessary garbage in it, brushwood, grass. Although in this case, you need to be extremely careful and remember that you cannot leave the fire unattended, but still it is more acceptable and the fastest.

It is not always worth resorting to drastic measures to get rid of a large tree permanently. Sometimes
just make the right crop, so that the branches do not interfere with moving around the site, do not hit the windows.
