Probably, the laziest one hasn’t written about it yet and I’m sure, you know, that a little over a year ago, timber and metal prices jumped a lot. In our area (Rostov region), the cost per cubic meter of timber varies from 18,000 to 24,000 rubles, and for metal in general you can't add up the prices - now the bases take from 85,000 to 96,000 rubles per ton, and in many regions the cost exceeds a hundred ...
I still managed to finish building the house before the prices went up and I remember how even at those prices the money flew away in tens of thousands, I can't imagine how people are dodging with the current prices.
So, with the construction of a house, things have come to an end and now work is underway in the yard, I finished laying paving slabs and partially a fence, in this year, at the beginning of the construction season, the plans are as follows: the first thing to do is to finish the fence, the next on the way will be a large vineyard and then alcove... and at the heart of all this is the same metal!!! And this means that again the lion's share of the budget at such a cost for the metal will go to pieces of iron ...
... I thought so, until about a month ago the thought came to me that I could go the other way...
When you need to buy something from building materials, what do we do? We turn on the phone and before buying, we analyze prices on the Internet and check for availability, many immediately go to the bases, shops and buy what they need. This is what I did until recently, until prices jumped above the sky.
I have adapted to buying metal according to a different scheme, more budgetary... at acceptance. Yes, yes, it was at the receptions, but not just like that, I came and bought, and first I agree with the receptionists about what I need ...
Now in the district they already know me all, and before that I did the following: I drive up, get acquainted, explain my situation and what I need from a piece of iron. For example, the last time I bought profile pipes for a vineyard and posts for fence posts, by the way, here they are:
So, I agree with the inspectors that I will take the pipe from them a little more than the price at which they sell the metal. Now, they buy at 19 rubles per kg, hand over for processing at 23, and sell at 28 rubles. But, the inspectors are people too, and they want to earn extra money, so I put 5 rubles on a kilogram and for this I will be one of the first to know about the rolled metal products.
As soon as the metal I need arrives, the receptionists call me, I come and take what I need. Many will say that it is very rare to wait for someone to hand over what is needed... But no, I made an agreement with 5 receivers and after ordering in the next couple of days I will definitely receive a call, believe me! The main turnover of secondary metal goes through them... They rent different things and rent a lot, they drag it from everywhere ...
My price is 33 rubles per kg, which means 33,000 rubles / ton. If you take a store, then the cost there is this 96,000 rubles. As you can see, in fact, I take 3 times cheaper.
Of course, they can not always bring what I need, they can bring it, I usually don’t go through, if there are short stacks, then I take them, and in the yard I weld into long elements as needed (photo above).
Many acceptances even specifically set aside business metal, which is required in construction, here is a photo of one of them:
Bundles of fittings in one side, a little to the right - a profile pipe, on top of short ones, and on the bottom there are long, even more to the right corner for every taste and round pipes. You can always choose, and if you need a little, then I don't see any reason to buy metal in stores and at bases at all! Generally! At the reception, you can always cover your need, so they will also bring you to the doorstep for little money, unlike store delivery.
In general, we spin as we can and adapt to stupid prices too ...
