Spring is a great time of the year. Nature begins to awaken after hibernation, everything turns green, and the weather becomes warm. But for me personally, at this time, not the easiest period begins. Every spring I start a construction project. My work begins in March, right after the snow melts.

This year I wanted to create a special area for barbecue in the country. In the future, not only a barbecue, but also a gazebo should be located there. I decided to lay out this place with paving slabs.
" Only the stingy and stupid put paving slabs on the sand" - the foreman of the builders taught how to do it

Initially, I wanted to do everything myself, since I have experience in construction. But then I figured out how long it would take and decided to hire a construction team. I explained to the contractor how the place should turn out, and also purchased all the necessary materials and waited for the day of the arrival of the brigade.

The foreman began to assess the front of future work and noticed on my site a mountain of sand that I bought for laying tiles. He said that they would not need this material. I was a little surprised, because sand was always used for such works. Moreover, I bought a high-quality specimen that was sieved. But this fact did not in any way change the decision of the foreman.

Until this moment, I did not know that there are other ways of laying paving slabs. In my homeland, a cement-sand mortar is always used.

The contractor told and clearly showed a completely different method, which turned out to be extremely effective. He immediately stated that this method is very high quality, and the tiles will last more than 20 years. And during this period, it does not deform in any way. I took my word for it, since this team had already worked on my site.

As a replacement for sand, the contractor advised to buy fine screening of granite and herbicide powder. The latter is excellent for weed control. The grass will not be able to begin to germinate under the tiles, therefore, it will remain intact and safe.

Particles of weeds will always remain in the river sand, even if it is sifted dozens of times. That is why it should not be used as a material for laying paving slabs.

In the screening of granite, the grass can never germinate, since this material weighs much more than sand. When combining granite and cement, a solid monolith is obtained, which does not allow weeds to grow.

The advantages of granite do not end there. As time passes, the ground may begin to sink or shift to the side. The greatest load will fall just on the block of the granite monolith. To increase its strength, you can put a mesh on it.

The builders did their job as professionally and beautifully as possible! The tiles look perfect and the weeds haven’t appeared yet. With sand, this would certainly not have happened.
