As much as I would not like to save the territory of the garden, but apple trees require a sufficient amount of free space. And to a greater extent this applies not to the air space, but to the underground area for root growth. The root system, growing, over time takes up a large area, and it is very important that the roots of different trees do not interfere with each other's growth and nutrition.

Therefore, the first and main rule of competent garden seating, I can call the study of the final size of adult trees. It is precisely from these measurements that you need to make a start. Tall and spreading apple varieties will require an average distance between seedlings of 4 meters, and between rows and all 6 meters. Among such tall beauties, I can name the following types:

  • Moscow Grushovka;
  • Ordinary Antonovka;
  • New brown variety;
  • Autumn striped.

Lower and miniature types of apple trees need a shorter distance: 3 meters between seedlings and 4 meters between rows. To such individuals, I can include the following varieties:

  • Welsey;
  • Spartan;
  • Lobo;
  • Melba.

If you do not have professional planting, but a mixed home and cozy garden, then the apple tree should be planted a little distance from other trees. The ideal free space diameter for this option is 4-5 meters. However, let me remind you that even in one variety, trees grow in different ways, so an individual approach always plays a big role.

In the event that even you cannot allocate such a site for an apple tree, then I advise you to pay attention to varieties that are called columnar. They are divided by growth parameters into:

  • dwarf;
  • semi-dwarf;
  • vigorous.

Such species in appearance resemble elongated columns, grow mainly upward and do not have a spreading crown and root system.

For such trees, a distance of 1-2 meters will be enough, and dwarf ones will need only 70 centimeters of free space.

Do not forget when choosing planting material to think not only about the need for free space, but also about the climate and geography of the region. These factors can also affect the growth of the crown and root system.

Having specified the size of the crown, multiply this figure by 2 - this will be the most suitable distance for disembarkation. It will not only allow the trees to grow comfortably and freely, but also make it easier for the gardener to carry out all the necessary agricultural procedures: mowing the lawn, watering, pruning branches, shaping the crown, collecting harvest.

After marking the landing pattern, you can safely proceed to planting.

Let me remind you that the abundance of planted trees will not always guarantee the quality and quantity of the harvest. It is better to plant fewer fruits, but provide them with comfortable growing conditions that will bring more benefits to both you and the apple trees.
