Where did the peoples with blond hair and blue eyes come from in Central Asia

Throughout Central Asia, there are now and then small (and not so) peoples, whose representatives have a brightly distinguished appearance against the general background. With all their appearance, they are much more similar to Europeans than to the inhabitants of Western Asia, despite the fact that culturally they are much closer to the latter. About where exactly they came from, there are two main versions that do not contradict each other.

"Every war between Europeans is a civil war" - Victor Hugo.

It would be possible to supplement the French writer in the light of modern archaeological and genetic discoveries: any war between people is civil. The current story will look especially ironic in the context of the 21st century, when many European countries and former Soviet republics are constantly faced with the problem of the migration crisis. So, the "bad" news: we are all Europeans and for the most part Asians - "come in large numbers." Very many peoples of modern Asia and Europe come from a common root from the so-called group of Aryan peoples.

Today, the term "arias" is used in science and journalism not too willingly due to the well-known events of the 20th century - the Second World War. The fact is that back in the 19th century, scientists found many linguistic and cultural relationships between seemingly fundamentally different peoples of Europe and Asia. The theory of a common origin was born, which would be confirmed by archeology much later. The group of predecessor peoples was called arias. Alas, at the same time in the 19th century, on the basis of this discovery, frankly obscurantist "racial theory", which in the future will be adopted by the Nazi ideologists. It is important to understand that the term used by scientists and the concept used by the German Nazis are not the same thing. Therefore, today instead of the word "Aryans" it is customary to use the concept of "Indo-Europeans».

The Indo-Europeans or Aryans are not just one people, but a huge variety of tribes that appeared in ancient times between the Black and Caspian Seas, a little to the north. Today it is the territory of such modern states as Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia. From there, our common ancestors began to settle literally in all directions. The migration of Indo-Europeans to the Caucasus, Central Asia, Asia Minor, India and Europe took place from about 4000 to 1000 BC, giving rise to several large groups of new peoples. Here are just a few examples that will allow you to feel how far the Indo-Europeans spread around the world:

INDIAN GROUP - Bengalis, Punjabis, Rajasthani, Hindustanis.

Let's emphasize two things again. First, far from all the peoples descended from the Indo-Europeans are listed. The second is that some of the listed peoples are ancient and do not exist today. However, we hope the illustration came out quite colorful and revealing. Thus, it is not surprising that "blue-eyed and fair-haired" live somewhere in Asia. Of course, over many centuries and even millennia, some peoples mixed more with others, some remained in relative isolation for a long time. Therefore, some modern representatives of the Indo-European group from Asia are less similar, for example, to Europeans, and some are more. Nevertheless, even today, common features can be traced in the appearance of the Aryan peoples.

At the same time, it is important to understand that both Europe and Asia experienced several major migrations in their history. The first and largest is, of course, the migration of those same Indo-Europeans. The second major migration is the Great Migration of Peoples, provoked by the tribes of the Huns far to the east. Sometimes the migrations were smaller, but much more active. Here, first of all, we can recall the military campaign of Alexander the Great in Persia and India.

Following the suckers of the Macedonian phalanx (loch - this is a tactical division of infantry in the Macedonian army, the commander of the loch was called lohark) Greek settlers also went to Asia. After the death of Alexander the Great, his empire split into many Persian-Hellenistic states. One of these, for example, was the ancient Bactria, which was also located on the territory of modern Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. Today, fortresses, amphitheaters and Hellenistic temples, left over from the Bactrians (Greeks mixed with the indigenous peoples of Asia), are found there. In the future, migration processes were facilitated by such events as the formation of the First Arab Caliphate, and a little later - the First Crusade. Thus, "Europeans" and "Asians" were constantly mixed.

However, even if we discard the events of later centuries, many peoples still come from a common branch, and even more so from a common root. At the same time, it is important to understand that the same territory was often inhabited by several groups of peoples. immediately, from which, for example, in Central Asia today such a variety of cultures and external data. Indo-Europeans came to these lands in the II-I millennium BC. However, at the same time, representatives of the Turkic group of peoples also came there from the east.
