I want to dedicate this article to the Voronets plant, which is popular among gardeners. Its uniqueness lies in the ability to decorate the site in the autumn, when most other crops wither and wither. The decorative appearance of the bush is given by berries, which can be white, black or red and appear on the corow in autumn.
Appearance and varieties of culture
Personally, I am very attracted to the voronets by its splendor, which is created by large leaves dissected into three parts with a rich green color. The height of the bush does not exceed 1 m, which allows it to be used in any landscape compositions. Voronets is a perennial plant, which means it does not require annual planting.
From the very beginning of summer, the culture begins to bloom with small buds of red or white. I noticed that the flowering of the crow is not particularly attractive, in contrast to the berries that appear on it in the fall. Bright, spherical, pea-sized fruits with a long stem attract the attention of each of my guests.
Types and their brief description
The genus Vorontsov includes about 30 species, which differ in the height of the bushes (from 30 to 100 cm), the size and color of the berries. I will focus on the 5 most popular varieties:
- Pointed. Most often found in summer cottages and flower beds of country houses. It has large black fruits and sharp foliage.
- Red-fruited. It differs in a lighter, unlike other species, leaf color and has bright red berries.
- White. This variety is characterized by the white color of the berries. The bush is most often used for decorative purposes due to its attractiveness. It is not recommended for growing in areas with children, as its fruits are very poisonous.
- Spiky. For me personally, its inflorescences have a special appeal. The bush has a straight stem and large leaves with jagged edges. The berries of this variety are painted in a classic black color.
- Daursky. One of the few species that can grow up to 1.5 m. It blooms with small small flowers that are distinguished by a pleasant aroma. But the smell of the bush itself is able to drive away bedbugs from the site, as it is unbearable for them.
Breeding and cultivation
In the wild, the black crow reproduces by seeds that have a long germination period. In gardens and nurseries, exclusively spike-shaped varieties of crops are grown with seeds. At the same time, their germination takes about 3 months, after which the young sprouts grow in a warm room.
Other types of crows are propagated by dividing the bush. I use this method exclusively in early spring.
ADVICE! Do not abuse frequent shrub transplants. This leads to a long recovery of the plant and its inability to bear fruit during this period.
Voronet is not a whimsical crop, but transplanted plants need regular care, which includes weeding, mulching and watering.
The grown bushes are watered only during a long drought. The shrub is able to obtain nutrients from the foliage that has rotted over the winter, which is why I sweep the leaves that have fallen from the trees in the fall under the bushes.
Voronets is a frost-resistant plant that does not need shelter for the winter. It is distinguished by increased resistance to a variety of garden diseases and pest attacks.
Summing up, I want to note that the crow is able to decorate any site, but its decorative effect will open only in the autumn. The resistance of the culture to pests and diseases is due to its high toxicity. Some species of crow have poisonous fruits. This should not be forgotten when transplanting. And growing in gardens that children have access to is dangerous.
