To open and form buds, the root system of hyacinths actively “pulls” nutrients from the soil. In the absence of a transplant, development becomes slower, the petals lose their brightness, and the inflorescence may be deformed. Transplantation is an effective way to prevent the development of diseases.

Transplantation is carried out taking into account the natural cycle of flower development. You can not disturb the plant during flowering, as well as during the dormant period. The peduncle must dry. Transplantation is recommended in late September and early October.

Transplanting hyacinths at home

It is important to replace both the container and the soil. A transplant from a store pot is performed two weeks after buying a flower. The constant temperature should be within 20-24 degrees. Watering is done every three days. Warm settled water is used. The light day of the plant should be at least 12 hours.

The new pot should be 3 or 4 cm larger than the diameter of the bulb. You should not take a large container, otherwise the roots will develop this space. There will be no strength left to create flower stalks.

A substrate from a store or a soil mixture with turf, peat and coarse sand is suitable for transplanting. Containers must be disinfected.

An hour and a half before transplanting, the plant should be well watered. The bulbs are taken out of the ground, inspected and cut out diseased areas with a knife, if any. The wounds are sprinkled with chalk.

Drainage material should be placed at the bottom of the container. Next, the container is filled with a substrate by two-thirds and watered. When the water is absorbed, plant the bulb. The soil should be covered almost to the edges of the container. It is compacted by hand and watered a little again. Further, the flower should be protected from direct sunlight. Top dressing is not done until the leaves appear.

Transplantation in open ground

The area should be well lit by the sun, but protected from the wind. The soil should be loose, without stagnant water. Two weeks before planting, the site must be dug up and plant debris removed. Humus is applied in the amount of 2-3 liters per 1 square meter. You can use complex onion fertilizer.

For transplantation, dry and cool weather is needed. The bulbs are placed in the holes. The interval between them is about 12 cm. Drainage material can be placed at the bottom. The substrate should be moderately moistened after planting.

Spring transplant

The flower bed is dug up and fertilized in advance. It is better to do this in the fall. For the winter period, the flower bed should be covered with a material that protects against moisture. Fertilizer should not disappear due to precipitation.

The bulbs are treated with a biostimulant and a fungicide. You can "freeze" them. The dried material before the procedure should be placed in the freezer for 1 hour. In this case, hyacinths will have disease resistance. Watering is recommended moderate, but regular.
