If you thought that Russian companies overestimate only the power of the lamps and the cross section of the cables, you were wrong. Overestimate many and in many areas. Here are walkie-talkies that are sold as five-watt ones, only they have a power of 2 watts.

Two watt five watt walkie-talkies

I bought a pair of cheap Baofeng BF-T15 walkie-talkies at almost the old price (a set of two for 2200 rubles).

All sellers write "Power 5 W".

The box says slyly "Transmitter power ≤5 W".

Some kind of nonsense is written in the technical specifications in the instructions: "Power 51.5 W", "Transmission current 51000 mA". However, half of the characteristics there are like this (for example, how do you like the antenna resistance of 500 ohms, which is actually 50 ohms?).

The radios are powered by a lithium battery, the voltage of which drops from 4.2 to 3.2 volts during the discharge process. I connected one walkie-talkie to a laboratory power source and measured the consumption while holding the transmission button. At 4 V, the radio consumes 800 mA (~ 3.2 W), at 3.2 V 672 mA (~ 2.2 W). The transmitter efficiency is probably 80 percent, so there can be no 5 watts there.

Finding the manufacturer's website in the search is not easy, but I succeeded. Here is the page for that radio: https://www.baofengradio.com/products/catalog-bf-t15.
Reading:

"Transmitter
RF Power 2W
Transmission current ≤1000mA".

Everything is very similar to light bulbs: "How much power is there? Two watts? Let's write five, it will be better sold! And so as not to find fault, we write less than or equal to five, no one will notice.

This is how Chinese 2W turned into Russian ≤5W.

For those who do not understand, where does the Russian company. It's simple: Baofeng is the largest Chinese manufacturer of walkie-talkies, indicating a power of 2 watts on its website. But the Russian importer drew ≤5 W on the box, and translated the instructions as best he could.

P.S. The radios are small and comfortable. I will write more about them when I conduct "field tests".

Peace for everyone!
