Chamomile is a beautiful romantic flower that complements any landscape. These flowers grow in my flower beds too. And now we will talk about the basic conditions for growing healthy and beautifully flowering plants.
Description of garden chamomile
The perennial belongs to the Compositae family. Its height varies between 15 and 70 cm. The stem is straight. The leaves are oblong with serrated edges. A flower with a yellow center and long white petals. Seeds are cylindrical. The root system is slightly branched.

As soon as the basket with the stem turns brown, the inflorescences can be cut, the seed material selected and dried, which should be stored in paper bags or bags of loose fabric.
Some flower growers buy seeds in specialized stores.

Garden daisies develop well in sunny places without stagnant water.
The soil
The soil on the site should be slightly alkaline or neutral. If the soil has a high acidity index, it is necessary to add lime or dolomite flour to it.
Rules for planting large garden chamomile
The end of spring is considered a favorable period for planting seed material. In soft soil, shallow grooves are made, the earth is slightly moistened. Seeds are slightly sprinkled with soil.
Between the rows, the distance is made at least 30 cm, so that the flowers cannot shade each other.
Seeds can be planted on the site in the fall. At the end of the summer period, seeds are collected from favorite varieties and sown in a prepared flower bed. Daisies will bloom in their second year.
If the grower wants to grow plants by seedling, the seeds should be sown in early spring in prepared containers.
Flower care in the garden
Planted seedlings and early shoots on the site are watered frequently. As soon as the plants get stronger, watering is carried out in the amount of two times a week. After each procedure, the soil should be loosened, as well as weeding.
top dressing
In June, when buds form on the culture, it must be fed with nitrophoska (2 tbsp. l. substances / 10 l of liquid). After the end of flowering, proceed to the next feeding with the use of potassium sulfate or superphosphate (1 tbsp. l. / a bucket of water).
In order for daisies to bloom profusely, they should be periodically fed with organic matter (compost, peat, rotted manure).
pruning
In September, after flowering, the stems are cut with garden shears and removed away from plantings.
Time and rules for transplanting a plant
Strong grown seedlings are planted on the site when the temperature rises to +15 ° C.
The soil is dug up, fertilized. Bushes are planted in 2-3 seedlings with an interval of up to 30-40 cm.
Chamomile can be propagated using simple methods:
- growing seedlings from seeds;
- dividing the bush.
Diseases and parasites
Garden chamomile can affect the following diseases:
- fusarium - the root system deteriorates;
- rust - the foliage is covered with convex bright red spots;
- gray rot - a whitish coating appears on the leaves and stems.
In such cases, chamomile is treated with such fungicides:
- Bordeaux liquid;
- "Topaz";
- "Oxyhom".
For spraying against parasites, you can use insecticides such as Fitoverm, Iskra.
