Description of potatoes
The variety was bred in 2005 by German breeders.
The bush is tall with white flowers collected in inflorescences. The fruits ripen in 90-110 days. Up to 50-55 tons of root crops can be harvested from one hectare of land. Tuber weighing from 85 to 140 g. Skin and flesh are yellowish.
Suitable for growing in any region, it develops well in moderately moist soil.
Advantages and disadvantages
The variety has many advantages, of which we can distinguish:
- excellent taste properties;
- excellent harvest;
- root crops are one-dimensional;
- good keeping quality;
- the variety is suitable for cultivation in farmlands and small gardens;
- copes well with drought;
- potatoes are not picky about care;
- responds well to feeding;
- is immune to major diseases.
The variety has one drawback. Since the root crop contains a small level of starch and has dense pulp, it is impossible to make a good mashed potatoes from potatoes.
Planting and cultivation
Planting and growing processes are similar to other varieties, but you should pay attention to some nuances.
Optimal timing
Potatoes should be planted in warm soil at a depth of no more than 12 cm. The specific time of disembarkation depends on the region.
Crop rotation
The crop rotation rules for this variety are quite simple.
The plant grows well in areas where it has grown before:
- pumpkin;
- phacelia;
- carrot;
- turnip;
- onion and garlic;
- legume crops.
Potatoes do not tolerate such predecessors as:
- tomatoes;
- eggplant;
- peppers.
The soil
For planting "Jelly" soil, consisting of clay and sand, is better suited.
Seed preparation
About two to three weeks before planting, the potatoes are taken out of the basement and left in the sun to green the tubers. When sprouts appear on the seeds, large fruits can be cut into pieces if desired. Each piece should have at least one eye.
Correct fit
Before planting potatoes, the soil should be cultivated with a cultivator, remove all remnants of vegetation. Then potassium sulphate and magnesium, as well as superphosphate, must be added to the substrate. Tubers are planted at a distance of up to 35-40 cm from each other, the row spacing should be up to 75-80 cm. The fruits are buried in the soil by about 12 cm.

This variety tolerates dry weather well. Basically, bushes need watering during flowering and in the initial phase of root formation. Plants require weeding and hilling. And the main problem of potato plantings is the appearance of the Colorado potato beetle. In the fight against it, spraying with insecticides is used; in small plantings, the pest is removed manually.
It is necessary to perform the following agrotechnical actions:
- introduction of organic matter (5-9 kg, 1 m);
- when the bush reaches a height of up to 18-20 cm, the first hilling is carried out;
- the second hilling is performed as soon as the first growth appears.
Approximately 25-28 days before digging potatoes, all treatments by any chemical means should be stopped.
Some Cultivation Difficulties
Variety "Jelly" may be affected by phytophthora. If you start fighting this disease as early as possible, then you can get rid of it.
Effective drugs will help with this:
- "Kupritoks";
- "Ridomil";
- "Kuproksat";
- "Oxyhom".
