Last year, for the first time, cucumbers stopped growing in my greenhouse, and some of them did not sprout when sown, and some refused to form fruits. I began to figure out what had happened and realized that the troubles were due to violations in care. So what mistakes I made and how this could have been avoided, I will tell in the article.
How much and how do cucumbers grow in a greenhouse?
The first harvest from the greenhouse can be obtained at the earliest one month after planting the cucumbers in the ground. There are hybrids that will produce crops throughout the growing season. Bouquet-type cucumbers form a large number of fruits in one sinus.
To get a good harvest of this vegetable in a greenhouse, you need to remember that cucumbers love water and at the same time will suffer from overflow. The culture is thermophilic - the temperature during the day should be within + 24... + 30 ° С at night + 17... + 20 ° С. Bushes should be illuminated for at least 13 hours a day, and the room should be periodically ventilated. At the same time, this must be done carefully to prevent drafts.

How to grow cucumbers in a greenhouse
Improper agricultural practices are reflected primarily in the appearance of cucumbers - slow growth, weakness, damage from diseases and pests.
The most common mistakes:
- Poor quality seeds. Weak seeds will result in poor quality crops. For planting, you should choose medium grains without damage and properly stored. If something is broken, then the growth of the fruit will either slow down or stop. The use of hollow seeds is especially undesirable.
- Wrong landing technique. When planting in a greenhouse, you should not save space, I leave 30 centimeters between the bushes. If several crops grow in the same room, you need to study the compatibility list.
- Lack of heat and light. With a lack of sunlight, seedlings will change color, stretch and dry. Excessively thickened plantings also have a similar effect on plants. It is important to maintain the correct temperature in the greenhouse and prevent drafts.
- Too little or too much moisture. Opposite actions lead to the same result: the ovaries will fall off, the plants will die.
- Nutrient deficiency. If there are not enough substances for the development of crops and crops, both plants and fruits will suffer. If the soil is poor, complex fertilizers should be applied, which will stabilize the situation and normalize plant growth.
What to do and how to solve the problem
When the reason for the slow growth of cucumbers became known, we proceed to eliminate it. I am reviewing the conditions in which cucumbers are located and caring for them. Sometimes the lack or excess of water, heat and light are not the main disadvantages. The problem may lie in the attack of pests or improperly selected soil. I have loam in my greenhouse, in which a couple of weeks before planting I add peat, humus and be sure to check for acidity. It should be neutral for cucumbers. With a low indicator, the plants will not take root, and with a high indicator, they will affect the development of the bushes.
Fertilization
I believe that the correct selection and application of fertilizers have a great influence on growth.

I do four such dressings per season. The first in the phase of the appearance of two pairs of true leaves. For 15 liters of water I take 20 g of ammonium nitrate; 15 g of potassium sulfide; 5 g superphosphate. The composition is enough for me for two dozen plants. I apply the second top dressing at the time of flowering and the formation of the ovary. It seems to me that chicken manure and mullein would be best at this time. After a couple of weeks, I add nutrients again. In 15 liters of water I add 2 tbsp. l. mullein. The final time in a week I fertilize with the same composition and scheme.
Foliar
They are best done on cloudy days or early in the morning. I spray the leaves with complex top dressing for cucumbers, which I buy in specialized stores for gardeners.
Cucumbers will delight you with a bountiful harvest, subject to the observance of agricultural technology and quality care, which consists in timely watering, sufficient lighting and timely feeding of the necessary plants trace elements.
